Booked the getaway deal for 2 and was delighted with the value we obtained from this deal.
We run a B&B in Mount Maunganui and know what a good deal is all about.
The staff were kind and courteous and were happy to share a joke with you and did not mind engaging in conversation with guests, in many hotels the guests are just a number.
The rooms were clean and functional, with comfortable furniture TV and beds, the showers, and washrooms are being upgraded. As the resort is set back from the road there is no traffic noice. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants honest value for money.

Room Tip: get a 1st floor room as they are all upgraded

Stopped here for one night as part of a longer drive further north, so for what we paid (around NZ$90) is was pretty good value. But the rooms are very tired looking with old decor. Most annoying part was the shower head over the bath that was too low. Unless you are a dwarf you basically are on your knees having a shower!
Overall would not be happy to stay here for any more the one night.

Stayed 3 nights in March over the NZ Ironman weekend.

I wouldn't really call this a "Resort" but it is good value no frills Motel style accommodation. The buffet breakfast which was included in our rate was very good. It had the usual bacon, eggs cereals, fruit, juices, tea, coffee and toast.

We had a room with 1 queen and 1 single, the rooms are dated but clean and as others have mentioned in reviews they have a large flat screen TV - not that we used it much.

All in all, good value considering breakfast was included - I think we paid $149 / night.

The entrance to this motel is very impressive with the rooms stretching in a horseshoe shape around a very imposing reception and restaurant building.

The rooms however where very average and the guest spa that could be booked for no additional charge gave some concern over cleanliness.

The motel is some way out of the town and we made use of the on-site restaurant. The food was good and the prices not excessive.

When we were there the motel was being used by a group of roadbuilding workmen who had come in the lorry. Their early start the next morning was announced by the noise of their departing diesel.

This is a laid back, no frills 2-storey motel with ample free parking space. Situated about 3km away from the town centre along lake terrace, it is not really by the lake but on the other side of the road. You can't really see the lake until you are on the second storey facing the main road.

The rooms are pretty basic with minimum furniture and lighting - there is a huge tv though. Good enough if you want to just spend the night and spend your day doing activities. The bathroom tends to get flooded since it's just a shower curtain trying its best to keep the water out. It's not the most luxurious of accommodation, but it's good value. There's a small swimming pool and a tennis court too.

One criticism is that there is no internet access in the room, wired or otherwise. You have to go to the lobby to get connected. My advice is not to bother about that, but to head to town to the cafes which offer free internet with a purchase. Our recommendation is the lovely delicatessen called "Salute", or the cafe beside Subway.
