Was on the list for our New Zealand trip and boy was it worth it!. Very well laid out and organised - staff always around and helpful. Saw the geyser at 10.15 - happens same time evert day. Some amazing geology and forces of nature to be seen and a photographers dream. A real ‘must do’

Very nice lakes and views.
We spent like 3 hours walking and taking photos.
We went and parked in the parking in the
entrance of the park. As we had bought the tickets online they told us we could go direct to see the Geyser Lady Knox that is 2km far so have to go by car. So is a good tip to save you time to go direct to the parking of the geyser if you have your tickets already.

Need to get there BEFORE 9:30 to buy tickets. Allow at least 4 hours. Walk is very easy and the view is incredible.
VERY strong Smell but worth the walk!
Please don’t buy anything on that coffee shop. They are slow and not friendly at all. It took them at least 35 minutes to make a toasted ham and cheese sandwich. Coffee takes ages and they don’t seem to care you need to be in certain place at certain time to see the volcano.

Went with my girlfriend to see the different geothermal wonders and mineral ponds. The experience is really cool with the boiling springs with steam coming from them as well as lakes with completely green water. You walk around the different tracks, we did all 3 tracks and it took us about an hour. There are several lookouts where you can get nice panoramic photos of the areas.

Everything is well thought out and the shortest track is easily accessible with a wheelchair or stroller. But be prepared for the characteristic smell of rotten egg which is spread by some of the vapors.

The only letdown was the price, 65$ for 2 people, they have merely taken a piece of land with the geothermal activity on it and then proceeded to build walking tracks around it. In my opinion there is no way to justify the high ticket prices.

Also, on your way to/from Wai-O-Tapu, make sure you follow the signs towards the mud pools. This is an awesome experience as well with bubbling mud that splashes all over. It is away from the thermal wonderland and it is free to see.

A beautiful place. So much colour. It is a must visit spot, especially if you are doing only one geyser. Others don't have this much colour. I give four star because the entry fee if a bit high just got walking around.
