Owner description: Polynesian Spa is New Zealand’s leading international day spa. In a picturesque, tranquil setting overlooking Lake Rotorua, visitors can enjoy a wonderful fusion of relaxing hot spring pool bathing, sumptuous spa and massage therapies and picturesque lake views. Polynesian Spa has the use of two types of hot mineral water, one alkaline and one acidic, that are the unique point of difference of the operation. Many thousands of visitors to the spa have attested to the remedial effect the hot mineral waters have on such ailments as muscular complaints, arthritis and rheumatism. The Priest and Radium springs are most noted in this respect. We invite you to experience this World Top Ten Spa (natural/thermal/medical), as voted by readers of the prestigious Conde Nast Traveller magazine for several years and once again in 2011. We look forward to welcoming you to Polynesian Spa.

“Not for me but I can appreciate it”

Good facilities-very modern and well planned. I used the lake spa-was way too busy with the tourist buses arriving shortly after us. It was loud and not quite relaxing. The smell was too overpowering for myself but my partner really enjoyed it.
It's one of those things you should definitely do as a tourist in Rotorua, however couples should probably opt for a private spa as the lake spa was definitely not worth the money. You probably wouldn't need more than half an hour anyway.

“A must do in Rotorua”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

This Spa was lovely- and also gave us an insight in to the local culture as we met many people who take their children there daily as a wind down, the kids get to relax with their family, enjoy the benefits of Rotorua thermal pool, instead of watching TV!

“Private and perfect”

The staff are really friendly and make you feel really important. The private spa pools are just divine and worth the price.

“Well worth a visit, a unique experience”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

We visited here on an overcast wet morning - the weather didn't have a negative impact on our visit. We chose the adult pools option - $25 per person plus a $5 locker hire (lockers are outside the change areas and can be shared by a couple) plus $5 per towel hire with a further $5 deposit which is returned to you on exiting the pool area. There are several pools with temperatures ranging from 38 to 41 degrees. The pools were uncrowded on the day we visited - the pool at the front has a stunning view of Lake Rotorua - I would love to return on a sunny day. Take toiletries with you as nothing for this option is included in the price. The water is quite soft and my skin and hair felt wonderful afterwards.

“Relaxing and scenic.”
Reviewed 15 February 2012

We paid the extra to use the restricted facilities which, given the free towels and less crowding, was a good decision. Three pools (36, 38 & 40 degrees) all with lake views and pleasant surroundings and adequate changing facilities make this a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours. We used the cafe for a light snack which was perfectly OK. I wouldn't say that it's a "must do" attraction but it makes for a good, lazy afternoon. We didn't regret spending the money.
