We booked through booking.com and was meant to have suite with separate room with private spa but what we got was a single room with no private spa.

Stains on the carpet that had not been vacuumed properly, a springy base on one of the single beds, it was like sleeping on a water bed, curtains didn't block any morning sun so no chance of sleeping in, family room but cutlery was minimal, 1 fork & 4 spoons, 3 plates and 2 bowls...

Fridge did not seal properly and oven was purely there for space filling as that didn't work, a portable element was supplied but was inadequate. Kitchen tap constantly dripped. Pots for cooking were supplied however supplied with mismatched lids.

Bathroom was dirty, mould in the shower corners and sides, shower was warm then blistering hot, toilet ran all day and night.

Wall heater in the bedroom didn't work so a small oil heater was supplied, said sky TV in room and they had a sky watch book in the room but no decoder or remote was anywhere in the room. Sliding door to outside did not lock as latch.

Pool was heated but pavers around the pool area was loose and uneven, not really safe for kids to walk around the pool. Mineral Hot Pool was hot but I don't think it gets cleaned or filtered regularly as there seemed to be a lot of algae floating around.

Wifi was horrible, reception proudly said " oh and unlimited wifi " however wifi was slow and useless. McDonalds provides better wifi.

Being peak season unfortunately we didn't cancel as all other motels were fully booked but do not recommend staying here at all.

Room tip: Find alternative accomodation

Love the warm clear swimming pool. Many restaurants in walking distance.

Two bedroom family units clean and spacious. Blinds good for sleeping. Kitchen and shower fine.

Reasonable quality in good order. Not super modern.

Internet sometimes slow. Could use more power points. Pack a multi power board if you have a lot of electronics. Some traffic noise in kids bedroom.

Overall - good choice for value for money.

This motel is a classic with kitchen facilities and all the basics. The staff were very helpful and it was excellent value for money. However the beds were a bit tired and a light bulb was missing. On the plus side it is close to town which meant we could walk to the nearby restaurants.
With a decent makeover this could be a winner.

Room tip: The rooms at the rear away from the road are quieter.

Very run down, sliding door to hot tub very hard to open, Hot tub leaks out the bottom.
Bed wasn't clean long hair found in the bed. cup has coffee ring and stained lipstick on it.
Over all this place is poorly presented and needs repairs. The bathroom ceiling was chipping away small holes in it. Ladies in reception were nice but wouldn't reccomend facilities.

What a shame this motel, in a perfect location, is so tired and shabby. It is right by Kuirau Park which is pretty and there is great thermal activity. It is also just a stroll to the middle of town, Eat Street and the lake. Also very near the hospital. Although it was clean, it is very much in need of updating. The tiles and grout in the bathroom of the room we were in were really shabby. It was lovely to have our own outdoor hot tub and plenty of hot water, and the heater in the room was amazing, we were certainly kept toasty warm on a very cold night. But the glasses in the cupboard were dirty, some were obviously brand new and still had remnants of the price stickers on the bottom - maybe never been washed? It is a little embarrassing tome, as a New Zealander, that a motel in a tourist town is presented like this.
