I was here in 2016 in a 2 bedroom unit and was so excited to return in Feb. 2018. We thoroughly enjoyed our previous stay. However, this time our unit had an overwhelming mildew odor that was more than typical beach humidity smells. Upon further investigation, the carpet was torn up from the wall near the corner windows. The carpet even showed signs of rusted tacks from the floor board. I can assume there was a previous leak from the windows or door. The carpet smelled like mildew and this smell permeated the apartment. My husband talked to the manager but he assured us it was beach smells. Perhaps the manager hadn’t seen the carpet pulled away from the wall. I had to buy several room fresheners from the local grocery store to tolerate the smells. The view is beautiful. Can’t beat the view but it’s difficult to be inside this unit because of the smell from the carpet. Coming back to this hotel was supposed to be the highlight of our trip.

I apologise we did not meet your expectations this time in our One Bedroom Apartment.What you have witnessed and photographed is the result of a Carpet beetle Month we have here in NZ that attacks woollen carpets.As it is a woollen carpet, the carpet beetle month has eaten the edges away from the wall. When you lifted the carpet you saw the treatment stains from the spray we use to prevent further damage. This treatment was carried out about eight months ago and stopped any further attack by the month. The spray itself is odorless.
Unfortunately with the inclement weather we are currently experiencing this month, we are also experiencing 100% humidity levels. With the Apartments closed up during these periods, a damp smell may develop. The Apartment needed to be opened up and vented during the day and allowed to dry out again.
As all the carpets, curtains and upholstery were all recently cleaned as part of our on going upkeep, I doubt it was a mildew causing any odor as claimed, but it was the dampness from the humility in the air which was being absorbed by the furnishings in the Apartment..
As you advised you were both sensitive to odors and smells, we run our New_air deodorizer machine in your Apartment each day that destroys germs and odors while refreshing the air while you were out and about enjoying yourselves.
Unfortunately because you filled the Apartment with perfume fresheners, the following guests have now declined to use the Apartment because of the perfume odors that now fill the Apartment. If you had just allowed us to run the deodorizer for longer periods in the Apartment, all the issues would of been resolved.
Hopefully the planned upgrade of this Apartment will prevent a similar situation occurring in the future.
We look forward to offering you a more satisfactory experience if you choose to visit us again.

We stayed for two nights in the Blue Pacific apartments - these are ideally located (within walking distance) for access to restaurants, boat trips and other points of interest.

The apartments are well fitted out and ours had an outside hot-tub overlooking the bay - very nice for relaxing in the early evening after a full day of sightseeing etc.

We would use these apartments again

Stayed for two nights just after a week of storms so the sea was a bit murky! But still stunning views of the bay from the patio.
The room is very clean and tidy, although like some other reviews it is probably due for an update in fixtures and fittings. It had everything you needed in a well appointed kitchen.
It is situated just a few minutes walk from the treaty grounds and a large supermarket around the corner. Its about 20 minute stroll down the seafront to yhe harbour.
The car park is very small and tight so would probably avoid if you are not confident, especially in a hire car!

First off, this apartment is not a good layout for 2 couples traveling. Both bedrooms are upstairs, but one of the bathrooms is downstairs. There is a big difference in the size of the 2 rooms. The secondary room with a king bed hardly has room to move around. The apartment is very damp. There’s no air conditioning to take the humidity out of the apartment so we had no choice but to keep the windows open, hence the dampness. The washer and dryer didn’t work well. The toilet upstairs was mis-functioning. The furniture in the living room was old and uncomfortable. The carpet was old and stained.

And if they are going to offer free transfers in their advertising, maybe they should actually follow thru with that! They would not pick us up at the airport when we arrived and would not take us to the airport at the end of our stay.

The view was nice and the kitchen was nice. That’s about it for the good part. We picked it because it had good reviews and We really don’t know why.

This place is definitely in need of some upkeep and updating and I would not recommend it to others.

We appreciate your feed back about your recent stay. I apologise that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We have never advised that we had air conditioning in any of our Apartments. During your stay, yes , we had inclement weather which brought with a level of 100% humidity. We have fans in all rooms of all Apartments to assist with the cooling in times like these we experienced.
To leave the bedroom sliding doors opening during a storm allowing the rain in was irresponsible on your part, and not considerate to the guests that were booked into this Apartment on the day of your departure.
We found the carpet and the curtains all very wet from the rain.
The washer and dryer are test run after each guest departs. No faults have been found with their operation.
They are both well used by our guests and maintained for all guests use.
Yes we offer a complementary pick up and drop off to the Paihia township.
The Kerikeri airport is subject to availability and requires a per-booking request. There are times of the day that we are not able to assist to or from the Kerikeri Airport. This airport is also know as the "Bay of Islands" airport.
There is a full time shuttle service that operates from the Kerikeri Airport to which we are not allowed to complete with.

Our satnav directed us straight to the place, up a steep drive at the end of Paihia’s sea front. Our host could not have been more welcoming, and we were stunned by the view from our balcony. Free WiFi, a comprehensive information booklet and a great layout.
