We arrived mid afternoon for a two night stay. We were met at the door by our charming hostess. She welcomed us and proceeded to explain where things were, what was available for breakfast and what she considered the better eating establishments in Napier, pointing them out on a map. We were then shown to our spacious room which was the larger of the two available, consisting of the large bedroom with wardrobe and a wooden bench. Through the doorway was a sitting area with two fairly low chairs, TV (no sports) two small tables and a sink. Beyond this was a room with a shower cubicle and a toilet which is quite a tight fit for an oversized person. There is a shared sitting room and veranda. It is really a home from home. There are a flight of stairs from downstairs to the main road (My wife counted 103 from road to upper level in the B & B.
Finally, regarding the car parking. It is tight squeeze to reach the end of the terrace. My advice would be this, enter terrace and turn your car at number 1 then reverse slowly down to the end making it easier to leave. Beware of overshooting the ramp and decking as there is a big drop! All in all an excellent 2 days with continental breakfast thrown in. My compliments to our hostess.

Thanks Rodney for taking the time to write a review and share your thoughts on staying at Seaview Lodge. Yes, we do have a few stairs - an internal flight and then stairs down onto Marine Parade or the pools and ocean across the road. I guess that elevation is how we get our wonderful views and guests can always take the more gentle route down the road which adds maybe three minutes to the three minute walk to town! And yes for first time visitors to Seaview Lodge the rather narrow terrace can be a little daunting and that is why I offer to turn cars and park them for guests along with helping with the luggage - all part of the service! I am pleased to hear that you did enjoy your stay here and thank you for the 5/5. Congratulations on your 50th and safe travels. Regards Catherine

We stayed at the Seaview Lodge for one night and enjoyed every minute of it. The location is perfect, you reach the centre of Napier in approx. 5-10 minutes walk, and there is a lovely view from the terrace. We loved the style of the B&B, it made our stay in the 1930's of Napier just perfect. Catherine is an amazing host, she emailed the day before to let us know about a cycling competition in the centre, which would make access to the centre not easy; and she gave some great tips for restaurants in the neighbourhood when we asked her about it (we ended up going to Bistronomy). Catherine provided a great breakfast, with fresh brewed coffee, fresh fruits and yoghurt, and yummy croissants. The room was huge, super clean, and the bathroom was well equiped. Thanks for the lovely stay!

So glad you enjoyed your stay here. Yes, we are very lucky with our amazing sea and city views and still just a few minutes walk to the city centre - no need to drive again. Thanks for the review and all the best to you both. Regards Catherine

We had space, comfort, luxury and the friendliest host you could wish. What a 'find'! Nothing was too much trouble and the surroundings and views from the deck were just wonderful. The bed was comfortable, the lounge area for the sole use of guests was spacious and well appointed, with refreshments topped up regularly. Wish we could have stayed longer than the 2 nights we had booked on our travels around the N. Island.

Room Tip: Accommodation excellent, no need to choose a particular room

So glad you enjoyed your time here. Yes, our large upstairs deck is a wonderful place to sit with a wine in hand and watch the sea in one direction or views over the city in the other! We are spoiled! Best wishes to you both, Catherine

Our 3 week trip around the North Island included some great accommodation in fantastic locations but none better than our only B&B- Seaview Lodge. Our ensuite room was spacious and very comfortable with a lovely view over the beach and Napier. Over a delicious breakfast Catherine, our host, would give options for places to see, restaurants and vineyards not to miss and interesting historical facts on the local area. It felt like we were visiting a friend. We stayed 3 nights and we still could have seen and done more. Thanks Catherine xx

Thank you for taking the time to write a review ..... and for your lovely comments! I guess that is the difference between a B and B and other accommodation types - I love to give that personal service and care and add that 'extra' to the whole Hawkes Bay experience.
I really enjoyed having you both here and hope you will return - still many more wineries and fantastic restaurants to enjoy!! Regards, Catherine

Travelled down to Napier from Auckland, via Rotorua, arriving at this bed & breakfast, tired. This was immediately forgotten on realising that we had booked in to probably, the best B&B in Napier! The rooms were delightful, spacious, comfortable with a balcony overlooking the bay and the town. Catherine is a perfect host and the girls made good use of the breakfast room/dance room and piano! Lovely breakfast to set us up for the day ahead. Wished we had booked at least two nights to discover more of Napier's Art Deco.

Thank you for your wonderful review - so glad the girls could make use of our large breakfast room and get in some dance practice! The joy of the beautiful wooden floor and piano! Yes, it is a shame you couldn't stay longer - next time 2 or 3 nights! Regards, Catherine
