Note to Tripadvisor - you have spelt the name incorrectly - should be Waikato, not Waikat -i- o.
Hamilton is a great little town in New Zealand and is well worth a visit. The highlight for me was seeing a game of rugby at the Waikato Stadium.
The Stadium is conveniently located at the north of Hamiltons City Centre, a comfortable walk from town. The stadium comprises two stands, with open banks behind both try-lines. The stands were comfortable and provided an excellent view of the field. Amenities were great. Staff at the ground showed the typical New Zealand friendliness and efficiency.
But it's when the action starts that the stadium shows its unique feature - along with their voices, the local fans spur on their boys with loud rings of cow-bells, painted in team colors - a sound that likely occurs no-where else in the world! Just an amazing atmosphere.
New Zealanders are a little mad for rugby, and what better place to watch a game than a great stadium like Waikato? Highly recommended for sports fans!
