Stayed here with work a few weeks ago, nice clean accomodation but the studio room I had room 13 was pretty compact great for one night. Have stayed here in the past and had upstairs room which are very generous in size with spa bath etc so guess i must have been spoilt previously. Bella Vista Gisborne is nicely located close to town on the main road, a short walk to town and dining options 15 or 20 min walk, beautiful beach nearby . good value

Bella Vista motels are all pretty similar in style and I have stayed in quite a few of them. They vary from very good to pretty poor. This one is at the lower end of the spectrum. Our studio, Room 13 on the first floor, was pretty small, with room for only one bedside table for a double bed and requiring a sliding door to the shower room. The window above the kitchenette was fitted with a venetian blind and there were bright lights outside, meaning that you might need an eye shade to help you sleep, if you are sensitive to such things. However, as with most Bella Vista motels, it was modern and beareable for a one night stay.

Good day reviewer,

Unfortunately you do not include your name in this review, which is a pity. It is also a pity that you chose not to bring your complaints to our attention when you had the opportunity to do so. Your assertions invite comment.

1. Our motel was voted as a TripAdvisor Traveler's choice winner in 2017, placing us in the top 1% of motels in New Zealand. Clearly the vast majority of our guests do not share the view that our motel "is at the lower end of the spectrum" as you allege.

2. If you frequently stay at Bella Vistas you will know that the buildings are essentially copies based around a similar floor plan. With the exception of some motels in the Group which offer units with more rooms, the various classes of units are the same size. Given that you would have known beforehand what the size of the queen studio unit was that you booked, we find it exceedingly strange that you did not book one of the larger units. The unit you stayed in was refurbished in the last year, but we notice that you did not raise any issues with the quality of the unit itself.

3. As you said, the unit you occupied is on the first floor. There are no "bright lights" outside the room- there is a single low voltage light on the ground floor below which may reflect dimly through the kitchen window at night. Closing the aluminium venetian blind blocks this light out completely.

Given our motel's proud history, past and current performance we feel that there is a material disconnect between your qualms and the spurious assertion that our motel "is at the lower end" of the spectrum.

Kind regards,

Frik

We stayed in a studio room - bed with ensuite... The room had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Perfect for a wet and cold night in Gisborne. The staff were lovely - caring and very friendly...

Room Tip: Studios perfect for a one or two night stay...

Arrived without a plan for where we were going to stay and drove down Gladstone Road which is full of Motels. We turned around after passing and managed to get one of the two rooms available. We were shown around both so had the choice. The room is clean, standard size with all amenities supplied. We were not disappointed and the staff were very pleasant.

Nice and clean and comfortable rooms with all the usual facilities. Television reception was poor and there was a bit of road noise. Breakfast was good and convenient. but other than that I would recommend to anyone.
