A beautiful winters day in Auckland and what should be a perfect setting for an anniversary lunch. For some reason the restaurant was not coping with a semi busy lunch crowd on such a nice day. Drink orders, food orders and food delivery were all very slow, unfortunately mains were cold when they finally arrived. An unpleasant experience all round, worsened by a chef swearing during service loudly enough for guests to hear. Wouldn't recommend disappointingly.

My colleague and I were at the restaurant for dinner. We were welcomed by one of the friendly staff, who basically let us choose wherever we wanted to be seated (wasn't the busiest night).

Another friendly staff gave us some recommendations then took our order.

The recommendations were great! Bluff oysters were fresh and the lamb shanks were just delicious!

We were too full to try their desserts.

You'll notice there are two differently designed areas, the restaurant and the bar. We chose the bar area so,ply because it felt more comfortable.

A really nice experience and would highly recommend.

We were promptly seated on arrival and greeted by a friendly and knowledgable waiter.
He explained the difference between the three types of oysters on the menu and the accompanying sauces. His advice on the main courses and wine was excellent. The Bluff oysters were as good as any we had tasted, even though it was early in the season. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the venison was rated as excellent. The fish and chips from the menu was far better than normal fast food fare. The small selection of deserts were well presented and of very good quality. The price for four people was $400.00; not cheap, but reasonable for a top rated meal.

My partner and I chose to eat here on our first night in Auckland we read the menu from the outside and it seemed a tad pricey but it looked like a great little place so thought we would give it a go. We got seated straight away by a waiter who seemed very pleasant. We ordered the fish and chips and shared a bottle of white wine, the chips where quite raw in the middle when we finally ate, food wasn't the best. The waiter seemed almost shocked I ordered wine I think because my partner and I are young and fresh faced he assumed we would be getting soda... annoyed me a little. Whilst eating I did think the atmosphere was a little stale, the music was odd, 80's ballads?.. didn't really match the sophisticated decor. We paid a hefty bill and left feeling a little unimpressed the place just seemed rather pretentious if I'm honest, next day went to the crab shack and had the same meal and was far superior for half the price.

Everything that we ordered was prepared and presented perfectly. Excellent wait staff and great atmosphere. The Bluff Oysters was so fresh and great choice of Raw and Cooked Oysters. Also had the Rib Fillet Steak with Rocket Salad and Creamed Potato. Well done guys!
