Right in Auckland it's a gorgeous park. A nice leisurely walk up to the top gives you gorgeous city views plus a look into the crater of a dormant volcano.

Mount Eden is probably the best place that provide free and spectacular view of Auckland city. It was a little bit of steep walk to reach the summit but visitors will be rewarded with a nice green view of large crater from the last volcano eruption and beautiful landscape of Auckland city. Please note that cars are not allowed to be driven all the way up to the submit. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

We visited Auckland Mt Eden on Easter holidays, A five-minute drive from downtown Auckland. At 196m tall, Maungawhau or Mount Eden is the highest volcano in Auckland. From the summit, visitors can enjoy spectacular 360-degree views of the city and its harbours. A large, well-preserved crater, some 50 metres deep, is contained within the summit cone. It is a popular tourist attraction.

Really nice walk to get up here. Most hotels in the city are within walking distance and if the sun's out you get some really great shots from up there. Also cool to see an extinct volcano so close to the city.
