“Back again :)”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

Not the first time I’ve stayed here, and it won’t be the last. Kiwi International is my secret weapon for Auckland visits – back from the street in a quiet location, with free parking, and accessible to everything – the airport shuttle, the motorway, public transport as well as K Road just around the corner for nightlife and restaurants.

The rooms are small but tidy, housekeeping is of a good standard and its well priced – if you are looking for a place to base yourself while up in Auckland, you’d be hard pressed to find anything better than this.

Room Tip: As the hotel is set back from the street all rooms are more or less equally quiet.

i thought that the rate that i paid for a single room w/o bathroom was good, especially for a good location in a big city. i stayed before and after a group tour of new zealand.
the room was small but the bed was very comfortable. there was a tiny desk and chair and a sink and a mitrror but no closet and no place to put the suitcase except on the floor. so the room was only good for sleeping. i had a second floor room in the rear away from trafffic noise so it was quiet. no fan or air so i had to open the window to cool down the room.
the bar and restaurant are not cheap- go elsewhere.
airport bus stops right in front, so take it. it comes every 15 minutes or so and costs $26 return, much cheaper than a taxi.
good area on the main street- lots of shops and restaurants.
staff were helpful- let me make a free international call when my credit card wouldn't work in the pay phone. and they have luggage lock-up.
would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for one night before flying from the North to the South Island. Great location, simple yet well stocked rooms, across the street from the Air Bus Public Transit to the airport. Would stay here again!

We are long term budget travelers with simple needs - clean and space. Our room (a double bed and single bed even though we only rented for 2) met both criteria. The room has carpet, which I find a bit weird in rooms, but it was fine. They replace hotels and soap everyday, which we found nice. Our room was not en-suite (I'm not sure if any are). We were right across from the women's bathrooms, which were kind of cold. The room has a sink in it, which is kind of nice for morning and evening clean up.

Breakfast was expensive, but the lady said I could get a coffee (for free!). The location is good on the main street, but it is a bit of a walk (15+? minutes) all the way to the harbor. The staff was friendly enough. The lounge area was nice and spacious.

The Kiwi Internation is centrally located in Queen Street Auckland. This is a budget accommodation, but do not be taken back by that. The rooms are well appointed with seperate ensuite, flat screen tv, tea / coffee, with room serviced daily. The restraunt has good variety of meals and well priced, with a licenced bar. There is bus service on Queen st. If you are going to the airport, use there taxi service, it is only $35 to the airport.

Room Tip: Pay a little more and get a room with a ensuite,

Thanks for the review. I think it sums the property up well. It is in a budget category where value for money is important. I agree with the reviewer's tip. Go for the ensuites, much nicer and that's the main room style for the hotel.
