“Surprising and friendly boutique B&B”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2011

Beaumonstay surprised me with the way it combined a friendly welcome and stylish decoration reminiscent of a good small boutique hotel. Wendy makes you feel like an old friend when you arrive but, having shown you around her house, leaves you to enjoy the home comforts. Testament to the house is that on a Friday night in Auckland, with all 3 rooms filled, Wendy was the only one who was out, while the rest of us chose to stay in!
The hotel is a short walk from the harbour front and the city is easily accessible. There is free internet throughout the house. The bathrooms are clean and stocked with high end products. Wendy is able to provide information on what to do and where to go while you are there.
In summary, for a lot less than what you would pay at many other boutique hotels you get to stay in a stylish and friendly house, which provides a very convenient base from which you can explore Auckland.

We stayed here fresh from the flight from the UK.
The penthouse suite gives a great view over the city and is worth the climb up the stairs.
Wendy ensured that we had everything that we needed and also provided useful suggestions for our time in Auckland. If you let her know in advance car parking in the underground garage is available.

I spent two nights at Beaumontstay upon arriving in Auckland; Wendy, the hostess, was fabulous--she was accommodating, friendly, flexible and interesting to chat with! The kitchen has lots to help self-catering--made easier with the fantastic New World grocery store just 5 minutes' walk away--and good choices for the complimentary breakfast. The location was wonderfully central so I could walk into town easily (love the hills!), but also quiet, so street noise wasn't an issue. My room was pristinely clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished, as is the whole house. I've paid so much more for so much less in Auckland that I would always go back to Beaumontstay as long as it was available.

Wendy is your hostess and is a most friendly and helpful person. Her home is immaculate and accommodates the most particular traveller. It is her home and yet you feel she has made it the way you actually feel at home too. Not too personal but those special touches like music and DVD's to use, extremely comfortable beds, delicious breakfasts and the availability of an exercise building with a 'swimupanddown' pool. Outside the landscaping is individual and elegant. The area around here is where you want to be - just a walk away from the main street, restaurants, shops, and a huge supermarket. This last is a special bonus as guests can use Wendy's well stocked kitchen to create their own meals. I loved the views from the tall and narrow home with its steep staircases and odd landings where these luxury bedrooms lead off. Not for a wheel chair guest but for someone who wants the difference from a boring hotel room!
