“Just Perfect AND Pet Friendly!”
Reviewed 7 July 2017 for a stay in May 2017

If you are looking for somewhere a little bit quirky and different then Rusty Hollow definitely fits the bill, I absolutely adored it and will certainly be returning when I am next in Perth!

I booked Rusty Hollow from the UK as a birthday present for my sister and we were NOT disappointed although, I have to admit my spirits did plummet slightly on the approaching drive as the location appeared to be on an industrial site however, do not let this put you off at all as once one is at 'Rusty Hollow' it's just like being out in the 'bundi'! The railway carriage accommodation was just superb and the addition of the home-made bread, fresh milk (straight from the cow!!) eggs and honey were most welcome and delicious! The owner is also quite lovely too and made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable, even taking us to milk the cow! Loved EVERYTHING about Rusty Hollow and can highly recommend it.

“Unique stay but not child proof”
Reviewed 12 January 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We stayed in this unique accommodation for 4 nights with our two small children. It's a lovely renovation, with rustic period furniture. The owner Debra was welcoming and invited our children to feed the animals, which they did and enjoyed. The carriage was reasonably clean and the beds were comfortable. No issues with the eco composting toilet, other than trying to stop my two year old putting items down it!
There is one air conditioning unit at one end of the carriage which struggled with the 42 degree heat and made the kitchen and main bedroom unbearable. We were given basic supplies for breakfast (coffee, tea, milk, bread, butter, eggs, small amount of cereal and some used jars of spreads) This only lasted us 1 1/2 breakfasts, we had to buy our own juice, fruit, yoghurt etc, so not the full continental breakfast we expected.
There needs to be more storage as there was nowhere to put our clothes (only two drawers in the main bedroom and they were full of linen/blankets) as a result we lived out of our suitcase.
It's a interesting place to stay and if you are a couple looking for unusual
accommodation for one night then give it a try.

Thank you for your kind words and for your constructive comments. We do wish that you would have mentioned these issues during your visit so that we could have had the opportunity to address them and provide a better experience for you. The aircon functions beautifully under normal conditions, but it can struggle with extreme temps over 40. Thankfully, these days don't occur very often, but we apologize for your discomfort. The carriage facilities and breakfast supplies are described both on the booking website and in personal emails prior to arrival so we are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the quantity and range of food. We are always happy to provide additional freshly baked bread, honey from our bees, home roasted coffee and eggs from our chickens for our guests----just let us know the night before you’d like them and we’ll leave them in a basket on the doorstep. The railway carriage is a unique, vintage-style and self-catering accommodation and it is our privilege and pleasure to provide a memorable getaway for couples, groups of friends, and small families.

Definitely one of the most interesting stays I ever had! The carriage is amazing, full of details and perfect for people looking for something out of the ordinary!
The family who owns the property is also really nice! They showed us the property and all the farm's animals!
Perfect stay!

“The coolest place we have EVER stayed!!”
Reviewed 7 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

LOVE the train carriage. Very spacious, decked out beautifully and very clean. We travelled with a 1 year old and found the space to be very safe and suitable for him to play.

Breakfast is a lovely touch- and very yummy! The owners are very helpful and friendly. I couldn't fault anything.

This is the best place we have stayed at in Perth, would highly recommend to anyone wanting a clean, beautiful and unique experience.

We look forward to our next visit! Thank you for having us :)

It was lovely to host Mel & her family, and we truly appreciate her kind words as they are also accommodation hosts! The carriage is private & self-contained, but we hope that our guests will feel warmly welcomed in their temporary "home away from home". It's great fun to introduce our farm animals to visiting children, and we're delighted to share our little patch of greenery with folks from near & far away.

Just about to book to go back and found I hadn't written a review last time.
Very happy with our short stay. Clean, quaint, and very friendly. Big comfortable bed. Loved the breakfast. lots of space in the carriage - much better than a hotel room. Might need to bring your own internet USB dongle though as no internet connection, even outside.
