My wife and I met some colleagues from Sydney for breakfast at the Terrace this week. I picked it because I really enjoy the food, ambience, location and service. It is also close to street parking which you pay by the hour from 8.00 am so a 7.00 am brekky is excellent. Breakfast was good and my wife raved aboiut the 'vegetable frittatta'. Little disappointed in the scrambled eggs, it appears they had been cooked and had been in a bain marie as they were quite dry, flat and certainly not 'fluffy'. However the rest of the food was good, lots of tasty bacon as a side. However when we went to pay the bill which was about $98.00, "Sorry sir, you can't split and pay half each, only the General Manager has the delegated authority to approve this." Come on really!!!!!!! I undertsand if there is a large party and individuals are each tring to pay an amount when it is busy. But fair go, there were three other people in the restaurant and my colleague and I easily divided the amount in our heads. It's not that hard and this is the first time for years that we have hit this for years and years. So last century. This is the age of technology (we are in our mid 50's, we don't use cash anymore'.

Dear Keggfish

We sincerely appreciate you and your colleagues from Sydney choosing to dine with us at The Terrace Hotel and we are very pleased you enjoyed your breakfast with us. We understand your frustration regarding the split bill requirement and as a result, we are reviewing this current policy. It is always helpful to hear from our guests so we can continually strive to improve our customer experience. We do hope to welcome you back in the not too distant future.

Great little hotel / bar in the Perth CBD. Very impressive wine list and a great place yo catch up with friends for a few wines. Unsure about the food, but it seems reasonably popular.

We went for dinner last night to the Terrace Hotel with our cousins and from the moment we sat down at 7.30pm we were being rushed by the staff to give our orders. As soon as our starters were taken away we received our mains. Then as soon as mains were taken away we were asked to order our desserts. I asked the waitress why we were being rushed and she advised that the kitchen usually closes at 10pm however the chef had decided to close the kitchen at 9pm and as he is the chef he can do what he wants so needless to say we were ushered out of the restaurant before 10pm. How disappointing that on a Saturday night we were rushed through our night out. I recommend that if you want an excellent meal and not be rushed then go to Matilda Bay restaurant we had a much better experience there several months ago and were not rushed through our meal. Very unprofessional for an establishment to rush their patrons through their meal because the chef wants to finish early perhaps he should not work in hospitality. We won't be going back!

Went to this restaurant for the first time recently with friends on their recommendation. Started well lovely restaurant and atmosphere - reservation was for 7.30pm, menu was good. Food was well cooked and the night was going well until we just finished mains (9.30pm) we were asked if we wanted dessert, after requesting extra time we were asked if we wanted coffee. We questioned the rush & were advised the chef chooses when the kitchen closes, it's not busy tonight. Very surprised to hear this from a fine dining restaurant of this standard. No likely to go back to this restaurant.
