My suggestion is to take the ferry down swan river to fremantle which takes about 1 hour ish .. you can opt for the option of a lunch on board whereby you can dine and eat at the same time. The captain on board will keep you entertained with the details of the architecture along the bay.

Starting at the mouth of the River is the popular boho location of Fremantle - cosmopolitan foodies heaven. Take a ferry or charter boat to Rottnest Island or follow the river up to Perth passing millionaire properties and scenic landscapes. The Perth ferry stop allows for either a short ferry ride to South Perth on the opposite shore which is a 5 minute stroll to the Perth Zoo. Or head into the City Centre on a free CAT Bus for some retail therapy. The river can be followed further up to the Swan Valley. The Swan Valley is traditionally market garden territory with a range of wineries and fresh produce,it is now also home to some iconic attractions better known in the South West town of Margaret River. The River begins flowing up and past the Darling Ranges to Perth's east. Throughout the hills you will find the river somewhat dry until winter. Look out for Bells Rapid near Brigadoon or Noble Falls near Gidgegannup. Toodyay, Northam and York form a triangle of country towns nestled on the riverside providing historic buildings surrounded by gently rolling hillside farms

Flowing from east of Perth to south-west where it splits Freo in half.
An astonishing spread of warm blue flow that is home to many many live stocks & attractions. U can enjoy it's view from a park bench ⛳️, run/cycle on the perfectly paved footpath alongside it or drive over & around it ! Hop on one of the river cruses & sail across , hire a boat, jetski or my personal fav canoe back & forth it's calm surface⛵️.
Fish from one of the many many jetties alongside the shoreline. Heaps of activities with astonishing sights on this particular river.
Many café & pubs to go about on both sides☕️.
The Bridges that hangs overhead adds to the beauty of it.

We are members of the canoe society & sail across it on kayaks and still can't get enough of it.

The cycle and walking paths around the Swan River in Perth is one of the most pleasant ways to spend an hour or a full day. Beautiful river and city views, lots of Perth's famous green spaces, plenty of rest stops and BBQ amenities.
