“What a sunset”

Monkey Mia Wildsights
Reviewed 16 April 2013

Great way to relax and see the sunset over the water but I agree with some of the other reviewers that there was some over promise.

It was no frills in that you were encouraged to bring all your own snacks, drinks etc. It was unclear as to whether this included cups, plates etc - luckily we did bring all that. They did have chips and drinks for sale and sunscreen (thankfully because I forgot).

You are really only assured that the sun will set and they seem to forget to show us any wildlife. I was on the look out but didn't see anything. Really everyone just stayed in their groups and enjoyed the ride and sunset so 'tour' is an overstatement.

I did talk to the crew a bit about the area so that was interesting but you need to extract this info rather than have it offered. They were very friendly and tried to make the experience relaxing eg we drifted without the noisy motor for a while so that was nice.

It was only $38 and that was good value and we were back in time for dinner.

The sunsets at Monkey Mia are worth every penny.

We had a really enjoyable day out with 'Sam' on the 4WD tour into Francois Peron National Park. She seemed to know answers to almost every question. Only two of us were on the tour that day, so we had Sam to ourselves, which was very lucky.
Visiting Francois Peron National Park past the Peron Homestead is not possible without 4WD (unless you walk!), so this was a good opportunity to see pristine wilderness, and learn more about the bush.
Sam picked us up in the morning from our 'Monkey Mia Wildsights Beach Unit' at Denham, and immediately started to educate us.
We visited many other National Parks in Western Australia in our month-long trip, but this was a unique experience for us.
We probably wouldn't do this particular tour again, but it has meant that we would consider another similar one at another area, as we enjoyed it so much.

The sunset tour was absolute bliss. An excellent way to cool down during a heatwave and a beautiful relaxing experience. We also took the afternoon tour the following day. As promised, we saw quite a range of the marine wildlife. Only problem here was escaping the sun on a very hot day. Sun glasses and sun screen provided though.

Our hired car could not be taken into Francois Peron National Park, and we were very impressed with Wildsights website for their 4WD tour, so made a booking.
Perhaps our biggest mistake was believing the website hype. While it was great to go into the park with an experienced driver and see its wonderful scenery, maybe more accurate wording on their brochure would prevent others from disappointment.
We were promised "a delicious lunch, yummy morning and afternoon tea ... sunscreen, use of binoculars, polarised sunglasses ..." Lunch consisted of a simple filled bread roll and fruit, morning and afternoon tea was a packet of biscuits. "Yummy?" I don't think so. No sign of sunscreen, binoculars or sunglasses - but we did get a very tiring and constant tirade from our driver on his personal life experiences.
I am not an expert on 'value for money' for Australian 4WD trips, but $195 for this one seemed rather steep.

I went on a full day's 4WD in Francois Peron National Park, a 3 hour day cruise and 1.5 hour sunset cruise with Wildsights. All of them were great! Saw dolphins, dugongs, rays, sharks and a sea snake both from Skipjack Point in the Park and out on the catamaran. Staff are friendly and helpful. I thought that these trips were good value for money. Thanks folks, you really made my few days enjoyable.
