Stayed for 4 nights - booked a deluxe river twin room - room size ok, however the river view isn’t a proper front river view but a side view of a bit of the river and it was on lower floor than stated on their website - don’t know whether this was because hotel was full and I didn’t get the room I had booked and paid for or this is the standard view for this type of room but they claim the website description has been updated and now shows the correct floor levels for this room. If full river view is important to you then maybe email hotel first to check what kind of view you will get.

Doormen and bellhops were helpful and friendly but front desk staff were just ok - if you are expecting a Four Seasons/Shangri-La or Ritz Carlton level of service then you will be disappointed. Housekeeping were a bit hit and miss too.

Best thing about this Hotel is it’s location - close to train station and restaurants along the river. However, for the view we got and the mediocre service, there is a Travelodge just a few steps away.

Overall it was OK but nothing to write home about.

Once again we experienced an amazing stay at the Langham Melbourne with club facilities. We were welcomed by friendly, helpful staff who continually made sure that all our needs were met. Our room overlooked the river and Federation Square. It was impeccably clean and well stocked. As usual the Club facilities were without fault. Sumati and Claire, Tim and Phyllis made sure that everything was A+. The langham Melbourne is so close to everything. ..Melbourne shopping, yarra river walks, the markets, Crown casino all tourist attractions. Thank you Langham Melbourne you are the only place to stay when visiting Melbourne.

This was our third - and probably last - visit to Langham in Melbourne.

To start with our booking we - like at our second stay - would arrive around 10 p.m. and therefore did not want to spend money on the Club Floor facilities for the first night.
Last time this meant that we had to change room after the first night.
I therefore wrote to Langham for a solution. However the price offered was more than 20% higher than if I made 2 bookings ( 1 night without CL and 3 nights with CL).
I therefore wrote to the Guest Manager and had a better rate - not as good as the one I could have booked myself, as rate had raised over the week - but I accepted.

On arrival the lady at check-in spend more than 5 minutes to inform us about procedures we already knew from our last stays. However she did not provide us with any information about the Club Lounge and we never got such information but had to find out ourselves.
The next morning a bill for 1 night stay for express check-out was delivered to our door!!!!

The cleaning of the room was OK. However on the second day we returned at appr.3 p.m.and the room was not cleaned.

Also - when we stayed last year we were informed that the rooms should be refurnished during the winter. However still the old furniture/carpets.

But the worst thing was the decrease in the service level in the lounge.
Every morning except the last I have to find a staff members to order tea and the same counts for 2 of 3 nights with the wine - and on the last night we had to serve ourselves for a second drink.


On the positive side:

We were impressed when we entered our room and found out that the luggage already was brought to our room.

We had a problem with the safe on Sunday evening and the security man arrived within minutes and was very, very helpfull.


Will we return or recommend to friends?
I do not think so bearing in mind the price and the service provided.

We stayed at at The Langham for 5 nights. This is a very posh hotel with great service and facilities. The breakfast staff and housekeeping are second to none. The reception staff are excellent and always immaculate. Our only concern is that they could not remember our names,

We were visiting Melbourne for a wedding and we stayed in The Langham for the first time - it is the best hotel we have stayed in in Melbourne, and we've stayed in a few. The hotel is a grand hotel, with a luxurious entrance foyer, plenty of nice spaces and meals and bar areas. We had a Superior King room on a high floor, with limited views of the Yarra River. The room was very spacious and well equipped, with the superbly comfortable bed being a highlight. WiFi was also free and worked well. We didn't use all the facilities, but did have a late drink at Aria and a lovely breakfast at Melba.
