You cant visit Melbourne without a walk through the Block Arcade. This historic shopping centre is just one of many stunning Victorian arcades where you need to remember to look, up and down at the building as well as the shopping treats inside.

Tired of the big box North American mall experience? Check out one of many arcades, laneways and malls. Melbourne is oozing in character and the arcades / malls and laneways form an interesting park of it. Make sure to get the laneway map to do 75% of them in a coordinated loop. Do the loop BOTH during the day and then at night especially on a Friday or Saturday night. The experience is very different. The malls / arcades are narrow, boutique and interesting shop laden hide aways from the hustle of the streets. Cheap food and very cool coffee shops wait in the laneways e.g. a coffee shop with movie theatre seats as chairs. We really felt like we were back in the UK or Europe at times. If you like street art / graffiti, the laneways have the best and most eclectic collection I have seen. Again, see them at night and the day, but the night was often mobbed with photographers.

A good range of shops in impressive surroundings. You will locate shops different to those available in normal shopping centres.
