I've wanted to do this for a while. Excellent for new, casual or long-time and knowledgeable whisky drinkers. The series of whiskies we tasted were from around the world and gave a good appreciation for the styles, history, and particular characteristics of what makes a good whisky actually good and what is truly important in whisky making. As a one-whisky-a-week drinker for many years I've tried many brands before but I still learned a lot and it helped me to appreciate several varieties that I would not previously have tried or even perhaps known about (I knew of just 3 from the group we tasted). Some were completely new to me and truly excellent. The range was a good cross section of reasonably priced single malts from about $80 to $150 or so, thereabouts. It's in a great location, is organised and well set out and the time allotted is good and not rushed. There is time to ask questions throughout and afterwards. Don't forget to look around the bar at the extensive range of many hundreds of whiskies while you're there! I enjoyed it with my brother and met some terrific people as well, all there to enjoy good quality whisky. Great experience! Expect to take the train home or have a friend drive you - you will be over the limit... I would love to do a different masterclass next time and try a different range.
