Chin Chin, both the downstairs bar and the upstairs eatery is beyond awesome!
So the logical thing to do is start downstairs - mesmerised by the skills behind the bar - then move on up.
Chin Chin isn't just atmosphere, nor just great cocktails, it isn't even simply down to the food, it's all of these things and all the time.
After a half dozen visits, Chin Chin simply asks for another visit, Brilliant!!

After having the experience of a Pork Slider at the Melbourne Noodle Markets which was so delicious, we thought we would have to go to Chin Chin for dinner. Even though we arrived at 5.30pm we still had to wait for a table. The wait was totally worth while because the food was superb, & the service excellent. No wonder they queue for hours. My advice is to get there early!!!

Having lived in Melbourne for a few years I knew I had to go before moving. The first time we turned up at 5.45pm and the books were already closed for the day. Today we turned up at 11.30am for lunch (week day) and the place was almost empty (yay). It started filling by 12 and was almost full by 12.30.
We had the duck red curry and the caramelised pork. They were amazing and very rich. With rice this was (more than) enough for the two of us and could probably serve a third with an entree. The only downside was the curry came out about 10 mins after the pork. The food had delicious flavours and I thought was much better than the similar Red Spice Road. Highly recommend- if you can get in!

The food is edible, but I could have gone somewhere better for a third of the price. Was especially disappointing given how much of a wait there always is to get in. The volume inside also makes it very difficult to have a conversation.
