Fantastic immaculate apartments damn shame about the Night Club every night till 2am right nect door. Will not stay again because of the noise it comes straight through the walls and windows. The constant vibration and noise kills any chance of sleep.
I have nothing bad to say about the apartments themselves and the service is excellent.

We came to Quest on Bourke from Ballarat to stay 2 nights. We rented a car and wanted to stop in front of the apt to unlod our luggages, but we can't as there is no loading bay and we had to park at Russell St, and then pull our luggages from there. With 12 pp including children, it was rather stressful as we had to cross a busy road too. Moreover, it was peak hours, so lots of cars on the road.

However, once we arrived at Quest, we were warmly welcomed by Maggie at the reception. She was very friendly and helpful. Explained to us where we could park our cars for Avis to pick up the next day, and also patiently helped with online check-in for our flights back home. In fact, everyone at reception was excellent!

We requested for 2 of 2 bedroom apts, with 2 attached bathrooms (only per request as not all 2 bedrooms has 2 bathrooms)
Both of the apts had different layouts. One of the apts only had a toilet and a spa bath/shower room/toilet. However, for the other apt, both had showerooms in them and one of them had spa bath. As we had an extra bed for both apts, one could fit in the singles room while the other could only fit in queen room. One of the singles room had a small walk-in wardrobe. Good for putting luggages. Flat screen TV in living room, but no TV in master room unfortunately. Also no attached bathroom in master. Kitchen looks good enough for doing basic cooking. It was clean and not out dated. Complimentary coffee/tea clearly displayed. Separate room for washer/dryer. However, dryer not working well, and took a long time to dry. In the end, we had to take the clothes out to air dry.

Right in front of the apt is a tram stop, Tram 96 could take you to DFO (10mins), Crown Casino (15mins), St Kilda beach (20mins). Walk to Chinatown is about 2 mins, Target 3mins, Swanston St, less than 5mins. If you want to go to Queen Victoria Market, hop on any tram at apt, change to any tram at Williams St or Elizabeth St. We decided to walk as the weather was nice and cool, about 20-25mins.

A group of six of us went to the Melbourne Cup Carnival in 2008 and stayed at this apartment hotel. I was a bit late in looking for accommodation in Melbourne, and consequently couldn't find any vacancies for 3 bedroom apartments in Melbourne. However, at the Quest they organised for us a 2 bedroom Executive apartment with a 1 bedroom Executive apartment next door which worked out very well. The 2 bedroom apartment had one very nice Queen size bedroom with adjoining bathroom with shower and spa, and one smaller bedroom which could be either 2 singles or one King size bed. With this style of apartment you might get either 2 full bathrooms or one bathroom and one powder room. We put in a request for the 2 bathrooms but were advised these were allocated on the night before arrival and there were no guarantees. We were lucky enough to score the 2 full bathrooms which made the whole experience much more comfortable - I imagine 4 adults trying to use one shower would have been a bad experience. There didn't seem to be any exhaust fans in either bathroom which was a bit of a nuisance. The King Size bed was a bit uncomfortable but this often seems to be the case when singles are converted to King Size.

The rest of the apartment was relatively small and when we came together as a group of six for meals or pre dinner drinks, we were a bit cramped for space. Thankfully, the dining table had six chairs so we weren't reduced to bringing chairs in and out of the other apartment. The lounge really only seated four comfortably or five at a cramp. There were a couple of outdoor chairs on the balcony (yes we even had one of those, but it was a bit wet and cold to enjoy it and also the view was really only of the street below and the buildings surrounding on Bourke Street) - so we brought those chairs in for lounging occasions. The sliding door from the lounge to the balcony didn't work - we informed reception, but it wasn't fixed during the week we were there. There was another sliding door in the 2nd bedroom so we could access the balcony in this way.

It was very noisy at night - one night was particularly bad and even the ear plugs didn't really work. There seemed to be a nightclub or something nearby with thrumming bass until the wee hours of the morning. Thankfully this nightclub only seemed to operate on one night we were there. Also you could hear a fair bit of noise from the apartment above. The bedroom which was on the street was particularly prone to picking up all the sounds of the late night revellers making their way up Bourke Street. We slept with the air conditioning on all night in an attempt to create some sort of white noise, but in the end we had to revert to the ear plugs.

The location is excellent - short walk down the road to the Mall and also it was very close to restaurants etc. We walked to Flinders Street Station on the days we were travelling out to Flemington which was an easy stroll - about 15 - 20 minutes. If you do use this hotel for attending Flemington, take note, there's a TAB on the next block. Rather than queueing up at the track to place bets - we placed all our bets at the TAB on our way to the station. This worked out very well.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful - one girl even gave us the winner of the Melbourne Cup - why didn't we take notice!! There's only one lift which meant a little bit of a wait on occasions, but as we were in no hurry, this did not greatly inconvenience us. Our only gripe really were the continental breakfasts which came as part of the package. The first days breakfast were there on arrival, but thereafter they were very spasmodic. We seemed to end up with numerous packets of sliced bread and weet bix (not the muesli we had requested) also not enough tea bags or coffee sachets were supplied and neither were there enough jams and butters each day. We put in our written requests at reception but these didn't seem to have any effect and more and more sliced bread would turn up without the requested muesli. In the end I left a written note on the kitchen counter of exactly what we wanted and what we didn't need - this was the only time we seemed to get exactly as requested. On the Melbourne Cup public holiday no breakfasts at all were delivered for the following day. As this was part of the package deal it was a bit remiss of management.

Quest on Bourke is fabulously located, with Melbourne's CBD right on the doorstep. Many of the popular tourist sites can be reached by foot, and Melbourne's tram network means travelling around is easy too.

We stayed in a two-bedroom room, and while the rooms themselves weren't large, the lounge room was comfy and the spacious bathroom comes with a huge spa.

The decor is a bit dated and the views are non-existent, but if the price is right, the convenience of this hotel is hard to beat. The staff were generally attentive and friendly too.

Right in the heart of Melbourne, easy walking distance to shopping, restaurants and movie theatres. We had a 2-bedroom apartment which was spacious, had a well-equipped kitchen and an enormous bathroom. We didn't need the in-room laundry but it would have been a great convenience. One bedroom was a bit noisy (closed to the elevator, even though it was down the hall and around the corner) but we would definitely stay here again. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly.
