Owner description: Visit Melbourne's inner-city oasis. Over 10,000 plant species from around the world are presented in a kaleidoscope of colour and texture. Sweeping lawns, tranquil lakes and majestic trees are home to an amazing range of wildlife.

Hand in hand is the best way (in my mind) to stroll this wonder, circling the outer paths, drifting downward to the centre pond. I have to admit, I've only had a year of hand holding around the Bot. Previously I've run the track around the outer, used the gardens as a short-cut and mindlessly meandered its endless paths. Need a breath, the Bot's for you.

One of the highlights of a visit to Melbourne has to be a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens. Check out the cactus garden, the ornamental lakes or the newly re-opened fern gully. Afternoon tea is available at the Tea Rooms by the lake.

I love these gardens, beautifully planned with wonderful shirt and long range vistas around every corner. A wonderful sense of history and some of the most impressive flora from all corners of the globe. A lovely walk, picnic spot, a place for some peaceful me time or to meet and enjoy with friends.

Talk about an oasis in the middle of the city. The Botanical gardens never cease to amaze. I picked up a walking map from the tourist information centre at Fed Square and set out to explore the Botanical gardens and surrounding areas. Stop for a coffee or lunch by the lake and be amazed at the variety of flora and fauna that are contained within the garden. Just fabulous

There is nothing to dislike here. It offers soothing vistas, lush vegetation, and beauty around every turn. Go early morning for a misty stroll through the gardens. It is empty of crowds and full of cockatoos, parrots, magpies, and pukekos.
