We stayed here for 4 nights early Jan. The position of the hotel is great. We were able to walk everywhere but tram lines were very close if you wanted to use them. Queen Victoria market was 5 mins walk away.

We only paid $99 a night so i wasn't really expecting too much so when we walked into the lobbly i thought this looks pretty good. Check-in was easy. We had come off an international flight so were at the hotel by 9.30am so I was expecting to not be able to check-in however a room was available.

Up we go to the 5th floor. The elevators opened and i thought OMG what have we done. The hallways were so dark and dingy. We got to our room and I feel we got what we paid for. The room was ok and clean but again it was so dark even with the lights on. I guess the upside to this was we slept in every morning as you couldn't tell when the sun came up.

Would we stay here again? Probably not. I would pay the little extra and stay at the travelodge on southbank where we usually stay. I just couldnt get past those dark and dingy hallways! may I suggest a new coat of paint.

We booked a standard room online. When checking-in, we found the room smelt something like smoke from cigarette. The previous guest(s) might be smoking inside the room. We immediately reported it and asked whether we can get different room.

A nice lady in the reception responded quickly and gave us a new room, one bedroom apartment without additional cost! This made our 3 night stay at this hotel much more convenient.

Had a wonderful time with the family in Melb recently; we stayed at the IBIS in Therry street and my wife and daughters had a great time getting around all of the sales in the city and nearby Chapel street. The Ibis is a great central location for seeing and experiencing the sights in Melbourne - highly recommended - PW

I needed a parking lot, but yet not too far from the city, and this seems a good choice. Parking lot is AUD25 for a full day, and it has easy access to the tram lines, which made it really easy to visit the city. Breakfast is AUD20, which we didn't opt for, as Queen Victoria Market was just around the corner! It is also a 10-20 minutes walk to Chinatown where you have plenty of choices for dinner. I really liked the location, considering the price we paid!

The room is a little on the small size, with almost no views out the window, but hey, this is Melbourne, so I wouldn't think anyone would spend much time in the room! Service can be a little slow, as the place can get crowded with just a few staff handling the check in/out and offering information.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Melbourne.
