My partner and I visited here at the end of May 2019. It was awesome and can’t believe that more or less everything is free. You could easily spend a day here, we spent four hours but cut a few things short.

The gallery is so big and has things from every period in time with collections from all over the world.

There is a cafe in the gallery which sold nice food, the toastie was amazing. There is also wifi connection inside.

The highlight of the tour was the Terracotta Warriors which in my opinion was a must see. It was $30 to get in the exhibition but it was so good. If you get the opportunity to visit then you should go. The preservation of the warriors and the detail was amazing. It took us over an hour to walk round the exhibits, however you could have taken a guided tour of them as well. I believe it was value for money for something you may never see again in your lifetime.

I love galleries because I could easily go back today and see something I didn’t see first time round. I will be back and highly recommend.

NGV has always been excellent with a really great collection and current shows. The cafe is casual and really good and there is a more upmarket restaurant also. It is well located a short walk from the city or easy tram stop.

Spent hours here, still not enough time or energy to see everything. A real mixture of historical artifact and art exhibits. Easy to get to by tram. Nice cafe outside.

Honestly, the NGV is a must. It is just glorious to visit and there is always something new to see. On Sunday there is a market nearby and live music too.
