We love going to the zoo on school holidays. We have a membership and go as often as we can. We love Melbourne Zoo the most. There are so many animals too see and lots of fun play areas for the kids. The lawns near the reptile house are great to stop for a picnic lunch and lots of room for the kids to run around and play. Cant wait to go again.

Lots of animals to see across some beautiful enclosures. Lots of walking around but the zoo grounds are really nice so it makes it relaxing. Grassy areas for family picnics and for kids to play too. Definitely recommend for a family day out.

A truly wonderful place. Third oldest zoo on the world, apparently, but they are doing such a good job of modernising it that you'd never know. The enclosures are some of the better ones I've seen in zoos - lots of places for animals to hide if they don't want to be seen, as natural as can be in the circumstances. The layout is great, and easy to navigate: it's mostly flat, so not too difficult for those with prams/mobility issues. Lots of places to sit for picnics etc. The lemur enclosure will be busy on weekends and holidays, but is a must-see, and kids all seemed to be enchanted by the butterfly house. Well worth a visit.
