We found the aquarium a great place for families to visit, it was very informative. Our two year old loved the Penguins, he kept saying "happy feet"

“Totally Splendid!”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

Having been to so many aquariums, the Melbourne Aquarium really gives me a huge impact. It was really different from many aquariums, from my perception. I had thoroughly enjoy myself from the start till the last exhibition. The highlight was the well-kept penguin display. There are also frequent feeding sessions where visitors get to see the super-duper active and cute side of the various types of penguins. Totally fell in love with the penguins. Other displays are also worth the time of viewing. Recommended at least half a day for the entire visit. Location was splendid too. The free tram brings you to almost the doorstep of the aquarium. Simply lovely!

“One of the better Aquarium's”
Reviewed 7 February 2012

Plenty of interesting and well laid out displays, interactive in lots of ways, and then you can actually dive with the sharks, Ok the diveing bit's not cheap, but where else can you experience big sharks and rays up close in safety?

“"Walking with sharks" false and misleading advertising, a rip off”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

We went in good faith only to find that "walking with the sharks" is false and quite misleading. The Melbourne Aquarium advertises for an event that isn't true to its claims. Its expensive to get in for a family and add the cost of "walking with the sharks" its a rip off. There are no sharks, they are apparently afraid of the bubbles caused by the gear the "walkers" wear and they stay away. I think constructive criticism is more appropriate than just complaining, in the case of the Melbourne Aquarium I brought my observations to their attention, I felt the response they gave was purely lip service with no concern about public relations and nurturing their visitors with any feel good moments to take away with them. I will not return or recommend the supposed spectacle/experience - purchaser beware.
