We had our lunch at Hunky Dory Fish and Burger Bar located to malcolm street.Just a walking distance from apartment which i stayed and near to woolworth. We ordered fish and chips and fish fillet burger. It was yummy, delicious and taste fresh of the fish. The staff was friendly . Well recommended to viewers, family and friends .

In a town that is not really known for inexpensive meals Hunky Dory offers great value and great meals. If you're looking for a restaurant with table clothes and waiter service that would only be topped by your grandmother doting on you this is not the place BUT if you want excellent quality of fresh fish, generous portions with great salad and chips (fries) or rice this is the place. Lots of friendly people to meet and talk to as an added bonus.

This place is really very, very good. And... in city and country where eating in restaurants is expensive this is an excellent value.

Me and my husband rocked up to Hunky Dory South Yarra bar for Friday night dinner.

I ordered fish of the day with Greek salad. The Greek salad cake without any Feta Cheese . What a disappointment it was.

Hype only and poor quality of food now . Sad

I was visiting Melbourne and wanted to find somewhere to have a seafood meal. I found this on the internet but wasn't quite sure how casual it was. Hunky Dory is basically a fish and chip shop (that also sells burgers) but the meals are a notch above the usual standard and you can eat in and get a proper plate with knives and forks etc. We both had grilled options (my friend had calamari and I had the mixed seafood). Both meals were really nice. I found that having brown rice as an alternative to chips was good. All up the meal for both of us including drinks was a bit over $40. Really good value for what we got. It is easy to get to if you are staying in the city. You can either get the train to South Yarra or a tram (Tram 8) to the nearby corner of Chapel St and Toorak Rd.

Fourth time at Hunky Dory with my partner. We leave stuffed full and super satisfied every time. Such a good addition to a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Melbourne. Can't recommend this place, the grilled fish and the salt and pepper calimari enough, my partner has a soft spot for the seafood salad though you really cant go wrong!
