two stays here so far in 2012 - both for a few nights each. Clean, comfortable rooms; good location. Heirloom restuarant not quite as good as before.

Room Tip: try to get one with a view

The entrance to the hotel had the charm of a railway station. Purely functional. The design of the room did not make efficient use of the available space, eg having to sit on the bed to watch TV when there was a perfectly good sofa in the adjacent area. From the time of our arrival daily linen was short supplied even when we hadn't requested linen to be changed. Although the room was self-catering with a good kitchenette there was no suitable table or chairs to sit and eat.
The redeeming feature was the location in the CBD was excellent.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor. Try higher up - or another hotel.

Great value pricing, excellent service, wonderful swimming pool and sauna and great studio rooms. This place is right in the heart of the CBD, close to shopping, cafes and delicious cheap eats in China town. I'll definitely opt to stay here again when I travel to Melbourne!

Great room layout, the view was basically of a wall but for the price I paid (booked online via web provider), this really could not be beaten. Great central Melbourne locations and comfortable room.

We stayed here for five nights two weeks ago. Melbourne itself was wonderful and we easily could have enjoyed another couple of days. Citadines had a lot of good things going for it. The property was relatively new and very clean. The staff were uniformly very friendly and helpful and a credit to their employers. The location was good.

Our rooms were a bit odd though. We had wanted a two bedroom apartment but these were unavailable at time of booking. We therefore took a dual key access apartment of a one bedroom studio and a one bedroom suite. The studio was well spaced and laid out. The suite was a bit odd, but probably not the standard layout as it was the end unit. I suspect that to fit the space available they had to reconfigure this unit, not necessarily for the best. For example I had to climb across the bed to avoid the supporting plaster column in the bedroom ( which I also hit and grazed my foot on whilst in the bed!). The light switches were in awkward locations and hard to sort out which lights were controlled by which switch- there didn't appear to be a master switch in the bedroom.

Otherwise good with a well equipped kitchen and nice bathrooms.

One point to note though was that there was no laundry in the room. This was not an issue for a short stay but would have been if we were there for a longer duration.
