I ate the $15 lunch special on a weekday – three arancini, accompanied by a rather salty cabbage salad. The arancini were flavoursome and had a good texture, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside.

The restaurant was toasty warm on a very cold winter’s day. My server was efficient and friendly.

Hi MelbourneKaz, The lunch menu is great value for money, as where we are in Melbourne dictates we need to offer value at lunch times. The heating works really well as you found out and the arancini are always a favourite. See you again soon

Dined here for the second time while in Melbourne. We always shun the "formula" Italian tourist restaurants in Lygon Street andd appreciate the quieter pace of Mezzo.

We settled on an Antipasto plate for starters; Arancini, cured meats, pickles, cheese etc. which was quite tasty. Mains were the Slow Cooked Beef Cheeks and Linguine Marinara.

The Marinara was minimalistic in terms of seafood; a few mussles, a couple of prawns and pieces of fish, but the pasta was cooked well. The olive oil and chili dressing lifted the dish nicely. Overall, a tasty dish.

The Beef Cheeks were excellent. A large piece of meat served with a rich sauce which fell apart and you just needed a spoon to eat it with. Beans and baked potatoes on the side complemented the dish very well.

Overall a pleasant evening, perhaps a little overpriced for what you got.

Staff were very good, as was the Manager/Owner who checked that all was going well throughout the evening.

Thank Michael S

we had 5 people for dinner choosing meals from the main menu . The place has that rushed feeling as everyone going to shows but we had plenty of time . Seafood Linguine lacked any fish and only mussels and one prawn for $38 , mushroom risotto bland . The nwe asked for the bill to use both our entertainment cards - as was told NO only one card can be used - which is not correct . We missed out on a discount from the second card so made our meals more expensive than planned . Probably wont be going back

Hello Pam, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We apologise for the apparent inconsistency in the presentation and also the make up of your meals. The seafood for the Marinara is all pre-portioned so I certainly need to look at the process there. When served in it's usual way it presents as great value for $34. We have been a partner of the Entertainment Card for 9 years which allows guests to use a maximum of three cards per table. At Mezzo, you save a maximum of $40 for every $160 spent. Perhaps we advised that a second card could not be used as the table may not have spent more than $160. If in fact the bill for the table was more than this amount, you save a further 25% on the difference between $160 and the final bill total. If we advised incorrectly, I am happy to rectify the discrepancy at any time. I will also be happy to re-reimburse you for the Marinara and the Risotto. Feel free to present the invoice OR notify me of the date and time of the booking and I will be able to locate the invoice in-house. We aim to present great value in any case and I feel that in a tight market like the CBD, we do OK. I look forward to hearing from you.
