We had some beautiful food in Greece late last year, so Urban Greek was a no brainer when in Hobart.

The great service began as soon as we called up at 6:30 to request a booking: “is 8:30 ok? - and although the table’s 5 metres from the door, you might feel a breeze when the door opens”. We accepted, but when we arrived, as soon as another table became available, we were whisked over to it.

That level of care continued the whole night - as if we were special guests rather than drop in tourists. On top of that, the food was superb - my ham hock was huge (big enough for two really), and perfectly cooked.

The space is great too; I can see why Urban Greek is so highly rated.

Had my 21st at the restaurant in the function area up stairs. Staff were exceptional. Food was delicious. Would recommend to friends and family! Perfect place to celebrate with family. Everyone came home full and happy.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and we lucked in one night to get a table after an exhausting day at a conference. The waiters welcomed us and made sure we were looked after from entree to dessert. We decided to share plates but when it came to dessert we held fast in having our own! The food was beautifully served on ceramic and slate plates and I felt like I had gone back to Crete with the flavours, melt in the mouth lamb and later the baklava with pistachio ice cream. We are all going back again next visit to Hobart!

My partner and I stayed in Hobart for three nights in April. We ate at Urban Greek for two of those nights, as we were so impressed with the food. When I phoned the second night to book a table unfortunately they were booked out. However they phoned me back shortly after when a booking had been cancelled; I felt that this was excellent service and was very much appreciated! I have also eaten here a number of times previously and was not disappointed on those occasions either. Staff are attentive and friendly. Our waitress for both nights mentioned that she had only been working there for a couple of weeks, (and apologies I do not know her name!), however she was friendly, polite and very knowledgeable of the items on the menu...so many thanks to her! I can’t recommend any particular item on the menu as everything I have eaten there so far has been a favourite! The cocktails are delicious also. Bookings are also essential as it is a very popular and bustling venue. Highly recommend eating here if you are visiting Hobart.
