South Hobart is worth spending a day wondering around. LOADS of shops and resturants to choose from. The Salamanca market is a must visit if its on while you are there. Lots of unique local shops, along with a few large brands. Wear comfy shoes, you can end up walking lots and some areas have hills. Lovely park areas near by, and close to the docks. Lots of parking in the area too.

Walk through the back streets and you will be transported back in time. The houses and gardens in most areas are stunning.

Visited this area for a conference. The suburb is a bustling area with a range of cafes along the main street.

We enjoyed driving around South Hobart, taking in the views, and then visiting Salamanca Market. So much to see, do, and most importantly, eat!

What a great walk on the Hobart Rivulet Trail. It was a hot day and we enjoyed this trek all the way.

A stream followed us most of the time. There were also some history panels. I like that.

This trail is just 3 kilometers long and it takes less than an hour to do this trail. Cool!

The people of South Hobart are spoilt for choice as there are a number of excellent cafes and food stores grouped along Macquarie Street. The Macquarie Street Food Store is an excellent venue for breakfast or lunch as is Ginger Browns. The Salad Bowl is also a great place to shop for fresh produce and deli items. There is even a St Vincent de Paul shop for those seeking a little treasure or two.

Our accom was in south hobart so we simply walked everyday around south Hobart. There lots of ups and downs however every walk was interesting due to the variety of historic and old building/ architecture.

Easy to kill several hours just walking this area of Hobart

While sightseeing in South Arm, we discovered the local market. It was held on the local oval. Small but some interesting characters operating the market stalls. Plenty of parking, and a variety of arts and crafts, plus old wares to buy.

The south Hobart area contains the variety of Hobart. The historical buildings of Battery Point to the waterfront area of Salamanca to the Female Factory and the Cascade Brewery. Walk part or all of the area and not only enjoy the history but the huge selection of shopping, both window and actual as well as restaurants, bars, cafes and coffee shops.

Compared to other places on the city, this is the older part as can be seen by the buildings and the history but well worth a visit and walk around this area
