This lovely little market is held every Sunday morning from 9am in a carpark at the corner of Elizabeth & Melville Streets, Hobart.
Not to be confused with the famous Salamanca Markets which are held each Saturday on the waterfront and are more tourist oriented.
The Farmgate market is great for super fresh, local seasonal produce and home made treats. Also great for breakfast. I visited 27 Jan 2013 and could have had sushi & miso soup at Masaaki's, a Dorper Lamb Sausage Roll or a huge hamburger, washed down with freshly made cappuccino or fruit juice.
I loved the different varieties of potatoes on offer, as well as some amazing cheeses by Elgaar Dairy. Lots of berries too - blueberries, raspberries and cherries. All sorts of gourmet treats are available.
If you are into genuine local produce with low food miles this is the place for you, it's well worth a visit.
