Owner description: Step inside Australia's oldest operating brewery, nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Wellington, to learn how Cascade has been crafting beer since 1832. Our guides will share Cascade's fabled recipe; a dash of history, a healthy dose of Tasmania's finest ingredients and a generous serve of brewing craft. You can take a tour or just relax and enjoy Cascade beers and Mercury ciders, savour a delicious lunch and wander our three acres of heritage gardens. The Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week between 10am - 5pm, excluding Good Friday and Christmas day and tours operate daily.

“Gardens close at 4.00 pm : be aware”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

We turned up just before 4.00 pm after hopping off the Red Decker bus. We intended wandering around their gardens but wasn't aware this closes at 4 (along with other amenities there). So next time. Returned to city by track called the Hobart Rivulet.

“Favourite place to show visiting friends”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

Best do a brewery tour, but really, you can just go in there and buy a beer tasting plate and some lunch. Great place to see, very scenic, historic, interesting. Lovely gardens, perfect after walk on Mount Wellington!

“It was okay.”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

I guess the experience depends a lot on the guide one gets. We got a rather patronizing lady (somewhat insulting considering this is 'adult' business). Similar to taking a historic tour so this is most suitable for either beer enthusiasts or history fanatics. Tour ended about an hour earlier than stated (don't know why) but the tastings at the end were a rating grace - sparkling apple juice is a must-try! Would have been better if the tastings were guided as well.

“What a great tour”
Reviewed 29 March 2012

We did a Tour from Hobart that took in a few places but the best place was the "Cascade Brewery". We were taken on a tour of the Gardens & Museum then into the tasting room for a sample of each of their Beers & Stouts. WOW>. Loved them all !!!!
