Owner description: Step inside Australia's oldest operating brewery, nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Wellington, to learn how Cascade has been crafting beer since 1832. Our guides will share Cascade's fabled recipe; a dash of history, a healthy dose of Tasmania's finest ingredients and a generous serve of brewing craft. You can take a tour or just relax and enjoy Cascade beers and Mercury ciders, savour a delicious lunch and wander our three acres of heritage gardens. The Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week between 10am - 5pm, excluding Good Friday and Christmas day and tours operate daily.

“Very informative tour - good beer tastings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2012

Whilst not as "new feeling" as the Boag's Brewery Tour in Launceston ($28), this tour is informative about the history of Australia's oldest brewer. Costs $22 which includes 3 x 200mL (7oz) tastings of about 3 or 4 products at the end of the tour. Boag's adds cheeses to the tastings, Cascade should, I believe.
Tour leader had all the history and brewing info, didn't rush us around, but pity the bottling plant had stopped for the day, at only 3pm. They only brew Mon to Fri.
Public transport from Macquarie St in Hobart is easy to use, bus stops out the front.

I found this very interesting. It showed how to brew; what equipment they had and used; How important it was for the economy of Tasmania.

What an awesome tour. This is a definate must to do even if you don't like beer. Its so interesting to see what goes on in the beer making process. And you get 3 taste samples at the end. I loved it
