Very average

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Oct 2023
For the best part, it was average. I had really bad trouble with the plumbing in my room - the plug hole gurgled all night, two nights in a row. I DID mention it to perception but was told "it was probably because we were full, and everyone was probably using hot water at the same time" - no exchange of room or anything. My rubbish bin was left unemptied for 3 days. Also, the noise was really annoying in the foyer area, both mornings, and in the evening - my room was 3 doors from it - constant chat, doors opening and shutting etc - so was basically 3 nights of no sleep for me, Flipside, good location, but the windows in the room were way too high to even get a view, which the wall was facing. Disappointing experience all round.

From the outside, this motel looks like something out of a movie involving a seedy drug smuggling situation. The entire level 2 balcony (outdoors) smelled of cigarette smoke.
The mirror in the bathroom was stained/ tarnished and the walk-in shower recess was minuscule.
The linen appeared to be clean, however the mattress on the double bed was very saggy.
In general, the roo was old and not very clean.

The pics you see in the beginning of the 130 aren’t what you get. scroll all the way to the last 20 and it’s worse. Windows in lobby haven’t been cleaned in years. Vents painted over. Mold in bathroom. Tile coming off the floor. Carpet stains. The pics taken on their website and the first 100 on trip advisor must have been taken 20 years ago. The only thing nice about this place was the view of Mount Wellington.

Room tip: Avoid staying here. Spend a little more.

Filfy mould, dirt, faeces, cobwebs, sunken mattress, mildew pillows, curtains not washed, broken tiles in shower, rust, dust, paint peeling off ceiling, no fan rusty windows with no fly screens, moths, ants, spiders, broken smoke alarm, THE PICTURES ARE DECEIVING on websites! I’ve never seen such filth in my life! Kids were so distressed and ruined our time in Hobart. It was new year’s eve and we were unable to find alternative accommodation for the evening- should have slept in the car.

Room tip: Avoid at all cost so deceiving

This budget motel in an old building offers small, cheap rooms within walking distance of the city and Salamanca as well as having two major supermarkets and various eateries just along Sandy Bay Road.
Positives: Good quality linen, hot shower, plenty of extra pillows, TV, comfotable beds, quiet room and some parking, This is clearly advertised. Central location south of the city. Person on reception aimed to please, but was not able to give a positive response to our request for a light bulb to be replaced. Plug in heater was most welcome.
Not so good: The carpet on the stairs is worn and torn (a safety hazard). Our room looked as if maintenance is a low priority - missing light bulbs, tiles missing in the shower allowing water to flow across the floor.
This is a good place to stay if you intend to use the room for short periods.

The place is filthy, it feels very unsafe. There is mould throughout the bathroom, damaged walls and floors and no proper heating so in the winter when I stayed I absolutely froze to death. The tiny old electric heater in the cupboard did nothing to heat the room. Maintenance has clearly not been performed in a very, very long time.
