The Tasman is part of the Luxury Collection under the Marriott brand.we have stayed almost 600 nights with Marriott branded hotels and that many more with other brands.
This hotel without doubt is on of the top 2 hotels we have ever stayed in.
From the moment we arrived concierge taking care of our car being offered drinks while checking in all of the team working here go out of their way to give you a great stay.
We were upgraded to a heritage suite, Wow! due to our titanium status. A very spacious room luxuriously fitted out, comfy bed, thick carpet, a working fireplace. Ceilings that are 7m high electric blinds and curtains. A welcome gift of Clover Hill bubbles and a box of local beauty products sent my wife to heaven.
The hotel itself is stunning a mix of old heritage superbly blended with a modern extension the costs would have been astronomical to accommodate all the requirements of a modern hotel.
It only got better with breakfast, without doubt the finest buffet breakfast we have ever had in a hotel. A strong emphasis on locally sourced first class products, it was an explosion of tastes and flavours, could not get past the cold selections to eggs, who cares you can have those any day.
We dined in Peppina the hotel restaurant on two nights, an Italian theme this was the finest Italian food we have ever eaten. Go the oysters locally sourced shucked fresh to order some of the best ever eaten.
All the team that works here are wonderful, fantastic, enthusiastic and ensure you have a great experience.
The one small blip was the size of the gym, excellent Lifefitness equipment but it’s a bit small and can get a bit crowded we love our daily gym routine, but hey we made it work for us.
Sadly we had to leave, however, plans are being made for another 7/8 night stay next Aug/Sept and do it all again, a big thanks to Management and the whole team that work there you do a sensational job.

Room tip: Rooms on heritage side are superb

Spent 4 nights in a heritage room - upgraded on arrival. Had booked the Sojourn Package. Hotel fantastic. Room large, contemporary and what you’d expect of a 5 star hotel
Pre/covid. Name brand toiletries. 5 towels quality towels (I’m in a melb Marriott tonight and 3 old towels). Service excellent. Breakfast high quality. Mary Mary doesn’t feel like a hotel bar. Concierge service top notch. Can’t wait to go back.

We stayed in a Deco King room. The room was very nice and bright, with a desk that was useful. The bathroom was very large and had great shower, very comfortable bed, great slippers, very quiet fridge. The hotel was very clean and cleaned daily to a very good standard. The hotel isn't just a standard modern hotel - it has character and charm with mix of the old and the new in the building. The location is excellent at the harbour - near great cafes and restaurants - go to Aloft for dinner it was really great. The Mary Mary Bar at hotel is really nice with great atmosphere and the hotel restaurant Peppina had fantastic food, so it was great having good eating and drinking spots at the hotel. The staff are very friendly, service is efficient. I can't fault the hotel in any way and would definitely stay here again.

We are serious world travelers and have enjoyed great hotel stays across Asia, Africa and Europe for decades. In truth – we are pampered and a bit jaded. We stayed at the Tasman for 3 nights in the middle of our 2 week visit to Australia recently. The rooms are small but beautifully detailed with exquisite decor and the best bed and linens we have ever experienced! The bathroom is tight. No separate toilet room and only a single sink. For a top property - this is an annoying & serious failing. BUT they are spectacular with stunning views and a nice stand alone tub in the shower area. The amenities are first rate. Attention to style and detail are unparalleled. Artwork in rooms and halls are a joy. Additionally this property has a modest gym inside that needs expanding. The location is fabulous and the staff are kind and caring. We went with the breakfast included rate. This is a "must". The quality of food at this property is exceptional - especially the breakfasts. They are a culinary adventure and we looked most forward to them. Food in Tasmania is so fresh and above average.

Here is what sets this property apart. The wonderful concierge April who went above and beyond to take care of us. On a very chilly night - she graciously drove us to our dinner booking out of the goodness of her heart. Now THAT is service. Thanks April for such a sweet and generous gesture. Thanks to you we will consider staying at other Luxury Collection properties around the world. 

Room tip: Get the "breakfast" rate
