“Amazing views and location but .........”

The accommodation is in an excellent position with wonderful views and very well equipped. The beds and linen were clean. However, it rained on a couple of nights and the side windows on the smaller bedroom leaked quite badly forcing my son to sleep on the sofa as the water was splashing on the bed. The window at the front of the bedroom also leaked and water was running close to an electrical socket. The fridge did not look as if it had been cleaned for some time especially under the salad drawer and shelves were rusty at the back. I do think Viki should pay closer attention to the cleaning as there were cobwebs and dead flies in the kitchen window which had been there for quite a while. There was also various jars of sauces in the fridge that looked as if they had been opened for some time and out of date food in the kitchen cupboard. This really needs to be thrown away. Despite these problems we enjoyed our stay.

Really sad the roof continued to present problems - the bathroom was all sorted but not above the bedroom window! Everything is now totally repaired with new flashing. And, of course, it hasn't rained since these problems so no testing has been done but the roofer is content all is fine.
Re the other comments - these have been dealt with. My cleaners do a great job and very rarely miss anything - in over 10 years of servicing my cottage.
Meanwhile the joys of the position, the garden and the fully equipped cottage are there to enjoy - and many guests are still doing!! :-)

“Unfortunate experience”

We booked the cottage for 5 nights well in advance of an extended trip to see family in Australia. The views from the sun room were very impressive and the area around was lovely. It was a quiet area but that is why it was picked. Unfortunately it rained heavily on the night we arrived an water from a leak in the roof made the bathroom unuseable as it became totally flooded. There was also a leak in one of the bedrooms. There was also a smell from a dead animal that had died in the roof space. The owner was connected and she responded immediately, but we could not continue to stay as the bathroom was in too bad a state. We had to make last minute calls to find alternative accommodation which meant that the whole experience was not what we had hoped for. The owner did refund the remaining days rental and this was done promptly. I would recommend the issues were sorted before any more lettings were taken. I would not recommend until repairs were done.

This is my second attempt at a response - for some reason, the first hasn't been published - and I agree with Kathy - a very unfortunate experience!! :-( Nothing like this has happened in the 12 years I have been hosting!!
A roofing plumber temporarily stopped the leak on the day Kathy and party reported it - and he is now fixing it permanently. He had a good look and found no dead animal, but suggested the smell was long term dampness of the old lathe and plaster walls which had been covered over in renovations some years ago.
We have had several rain storms since this incident and, thankfully, no sign of leakage!!
I apologised profusely to Kathy and party and made full refund for the nights they didn't stay, as they requested.

“Restful Views”
Reviewed 8 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

The view is the main attraction here and the owner maximizes on this with the lovely and comfortable sunroom facing the bay. We appreciated the comfortable furniture. It was almost a shame that we had to leave to go out and explore as we could have sat here all day and read. Even if we didn't bring our own books, there were plenty available here, as well as magazines, music, and videos. There is a fully equipped kitchen with extras - after all this is/was someone's home. Speaking of this, there is lots of room available in this house, with two large reception areas (sunroom and living room), and two large bedrooms. There is also a large bathroom available.

We slept in the bedroom next to the sunroom so that we could have the morning views over the water. I would only comment that I wish the mattress was a little more comfortable and the pillows could use replacing. We used 3 pillows each to try to get some height. However, the bed sheets were wonderfully soft and the fluffy duvet much appreciated.

Although we ended up not using it, there is a wood burning stove and plenty of wood outside, so that we could have spent many cozy evenings in front of the fire.

The owner, Viki, has taken a lot of care to provide all the necessary information on the area and on the details of taking care of the property while there. We never had to guess at anything. Thank you for that, Viki.

The property is conveniently located close to the ferry to Bruny, located in Kettering. We wish that we could have made more use of the fantastic butcher in Snug and and the fruit and vegetable stand. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it for others.

“Paradise”
Reviewed 2 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Coningham Cottage was everything we wanted for an ideal getaway - incredible view (especially sunrise), whole house to ourselves, a fireplace, absolute serenity, and all the amenities one can ever need.

Viki was fantastic and provided us with absolutely everything before we even arrived. It was difficult to even want to leave the house to explore the beautiful Tassie nature (what we were planning to be doing) - we were already in it!

This trip showed me how I want to live, and where.

Thank you Viki, can't wait to come back!

“Gorgeous homely accommodation.”
Reviewed 21 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Clean and comfortable spacious and home away from home with fabulous views. I stayed 3 days whilst house hunting. I wish I could have spent more time relaxing and enjoying the bay views. It's peaceful and well located to amenities. It was very wet and cold while I was there but Viki had ample firewood at the back door and I was cosy and warm. Bed very comfy and the log fire warmed the rooms really well. In the summer it would be fantastic to sleep in the front room and wake up to bay views. Highly recommend this cottage. Everything supplied. I loved it. Will stay again.
