Stayed there great position, amazing friendly staff, could not fault at all. Food great, good selection, accommodation clean and comfy, walk to salamanca and CBD, walk around Battery Point enjoy the quaint cottages and plenty of places to have a light brunch or a coffee

For a Saturday night meal with 3 friends, we were quite satisfied with the meals we were served.
While I agree the menu is typical pub fare, it seemed well done and didn't disappoint four hungry guys.
I really enjoyed the seafood chowder.
Overall a good experience for the night out.

It’s always a bit of a challenge feeding hungry teenagers on a budget while travelling. Often pub grub is the best solution as it’s filling and moderately priced. So it was a visit to Shippies at the Shipwright’s Arms Hotel located at Battery Point. It’s a gorgeous heritage building with nautical décor, the food is typical pub fare. Of the four main course ordered, three were well presented and delicious. One of the mains was cold, and I simply couldn’t eat it due to other reasons. I will say this, the staff at Shippies were apologetic, and we were well compensated for the error. Even before this food issue the staff were welcoming and friendly.

We went there for lunch with two other couples. The food was typical pub food steaks not cooked to order
served with big chunky fried potatoes and undressed salad. The seafood chowder was presented will lots of green herbs on the top and was just warm. The bread loaf was good warm and fresh. Would recommend for memorabilia but not the food.

Heritage building in a quiet area of Battery Point. We had just arrived in Tasmania and just wanted a nights rest. That is all we got, not enough sleep due to being over the kitchen with extractor/fridges, other electrical equipment switching on an off all night. Recommend asking for rooms 1 to 4, may be quieter/smaller. The room was clean, comfortable bed, large bathroom and good shower.
