Have just come home from a very unpleasant experience with the publican of this Hotel.
Having taken my elderly parents out to lunch and them having a entrée of chowder

then myself and hubby had a steak ,we also had a voucher from the entertainment book and asked the publican to separate the bills we had the voucher and my parents only had a entrée not a main meal.
This request was rudely refused and and a heated discussion was had I am very sorry to say that he didn't have the decency to take one main meal of the bill ,refused to separate the bill and so we received a discount of a entrée only ,this is a very poor attitude.
His policy was that my parent were they to sit at a separate table could have a separate bill ,and if we had sat separate to them we would of saved $35.00 NOT $17.00 how pathetic WE WONT RETURN BEWARE ANY PERSONS WITH THE ENTERTAINMENT VOUCHER

We had dinner here on a Friday night I can highly recommend the crispy salmon, seafood basket and beef schnitzel we all tried a bit of each other's and were impressed. Staff were lovely. Prices seemed ok maybe a couple of dollars higher per dish than usual pub fare.

We had dinner here twice on a recent visit to Hobart. First time because it was close to our accommodation in Battery Point and we had two tired youngsters with us, and the second time because we were so impressed with the warm and helpful service and lovely food. On our first visit, they were very busy with a large group and many other diners, but even though we didn't have a reservation, they quickly found a table for us and made us very welcome. This is what the hospitality industry is all about. Our meal was lovely, so a big thank you to wait & kitchen staff at the Shipwright's Arms.

Nice old pub with plenty of parking and a nice bar ambience. A couple of blips, but the staff were generally pretty helpful. I'd recommend it anytime, and if you're from Melbourne, you'll get a glimpse of the old fashioned world, before most of Melbourne's was torn down.

Room Tip: Budget rooms only have double beds so if you're travelling with another bloke, beware

We stayed here for a few days. The reception was great and the staff were very helpful when we wanted to change the booking. Great room, very comfortable and reasonably appointed. Food was very good. Overall we felt very welcome for a few days in a very convenient spot.
