Amazing views but take your coats and bennies as it's freezing up there! Great hike on the zig zag track and spectacular views. We filmed up here while filming House Hunters International, will be an amazing episode because of these views and we got some drone shots (you have to get permission to use a drone)

Definitely worth a drive to the top to watch the sun set. Take a warm jacket as it is freezing at the top but well worth it. The roads are narrow to get to the top so careful driving is needed Magnificent view

We wanted to see the Organ Pipes, which are located below Mt Wellington, so opted for a hike/bush walk taking in both Mt Wellington and the Pipes. It should take no more than 3 hours and is the easier option than starting from "The Springs".
Instead you park the car at "The Chalet". The first bit is on the road heading towards the summit. After about a 20-30 min walk you will see a sign "Panorama Track" on your left. Follow this path and you will get to the summit. From the summit head south and you will get to the start of the Zig Zag track, it's all downhill and steep at places but the views and the landscape are just fantastic. You will eventually get to the junction where the Organ Pipes track starts to your left. Follow this track until you get back to "The Chalet" car park. Seeing the Organ Pipes below Mt Wellington close up was amazing, and so was the view from the summit over Hobart.

You can find a PDF of Mt Wellington Walking tracks on the Wellington Park website.

You will need good walking shoes/boots for this bush walk. When we went the Organ Pipes Track was quite muddy in places.

On the way down do stop at the Lost Freight Coffee shop @ The Springs car park. It's a beautiful spot to refuel, and their Hot Chocolates are amazing.

We drove up to the Top of mount Wellington with our 2 kids (16 and 12). We were lucky it was a sunny day. The view is incredible. I have never taken so many photos in one place. Just amazing. I recommend it to everyone visiting Hobart. Only a 25 min drive from the CBD. Just done forget to bring warm clothes, you will need them once you reach the top of the mountain.

The top of mt Wellington has such incredible views of Hobart! You can see the entire city and greater Hobart! Thoroughly enjoyed it :) also, there’s a toilet and an indoor lookout for convenience and comfort :) drive up is windy so be prepared!
