We arrived in Adelaide on Thursday to watch the footy finals. Crows vs GWS Thursday night. Port Power vs West Coast Eagles on Saturday night. Before leaving for Adelaide we checked on Trip Advisor to find Adelaides best restaurants.. It just so happened one of Adelaide's best breakfast spots was located just down the road from where we were staying. So on our first morning in Adelaide we took a short walk to Luigi Delicatessen. Luigi himself greeted us at the door and we were quickly seated with our favourite coffees in hand. Luigi then sat with us and explained his breakfast menu. (I should point out there is no printed menu) Having said that, nothing that was written on paper could go close to describing the 3 or 4 dishes available the way that Luigi did. In fact they all sounded so good I said, "I'll have them all". "No problem", came the reply. "We do a breakfast tasting platter with a small portion of each dish so you can try everything I've just described".
I looked over at the trouble and strife and she gave the nod. The tasting platter it was. Luigi soon arrived back at the table with this magnificent looking platter where he once again described each portion in detail. Put simply, there was poached eggs, Italian sausage, Maple bacon, a trio of mushrooms, tomato and brocolini salsa, smashed avocado, beetroot hummus, and two sauces. One a tomato sauce and the other a unique blue cheese sauce.
(Luigi was kind enough to give my wife the recipe for this because it was to die for) The tasting platter was a very unique way to serve breakfast and delivers on Luigi's promise of being different. Luigi is a really nice bloke and when you meet him you can understand why his business is so successful. There is just one slight problem. He supports Port Power. And I think he is going to be very disappointed on Saturday night.
