The Belgian Beer Café Oostende was located just down the street from our hotel when we were in Adelaide and friends of ours frequent it so we thought we would check it out. Tried the oysters and charcuterie board for appetizers, then moved to the duck confit, venison and lamb rump all of which were excellent then some truffles for dessert. Accompanied by some marvelous Belgian beer like the Hoegaarden which we have enjoyed around the world, now experienced on 4 continents and a couple of the Trappist beers as well since it has been decades since we had any of those. Overall a terrific dining experience, we let our friends know they had chosen wisely and we would recommend it to everyone even if you don’t like beer.

I stopped here for lunch for a couple of beers and a burger. The food and beer were good.

The staff were friendly and helpful in selecting beers.

One annoying things was trying to find a table outside that was not wobbly. In the end we resorted to wedging a couple of beer coasters under the leg of the table. Had we only been drinking, this would not have been a problem, but when you are trying to eat off a wobbly table, there is nothing more annoying.

Food took forever to come out and when it did it was severely undercooked.
No drinks service either and staff were rude.
High prices for inferior quality food - dont waste your money.
Will not be coming here again.

Picked this place to go to because I love Belgium beer and the selection of drinks was more than satisfactory. The beer menu was well detailed. We sat in the restaurant because we wanted dinner (it was a Friday night). The menu had a lot of great choices. Both servers who attended to our table were personable and welcoming. The restaurant section of the bar was very quiet, especially for a Friday. Our drinks took easily 20 mins to come to our table after ordering. Our food and desserts also took a very long time to come, like a really long time. The kitchen nor servers seemed to be in a rush and did not even acknowledge that everything took a long time to come out. We all loved the drinks and our food was great as well, but the service was so slow I'd hesitate to eat there again

Deciding to catch up with a friend for lunch on a Saturday, we decided to get together at the Belgian Beer Cafe. I haven't been here for years and it was nice to see that it is still a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.

As well it was raining we sat inside. It was cozy and not crowded. My friend and I were able to chat comfortably in the bar area and nibble away from the bar menu while catching up.

The staff were friendly and the food was yummy. We had the crispy squid which was full of flavour and cooked very well. Of course we also had the delicious pomme frites - as tasty as ever with tangy dipping mayonnaise. As we as not beer drinkers we were happy with the non-beer choices available.

Overall, it was a lovely place for a lunchtime catch up and I plan to go back on a sunny afternoon in the near future to enjoy the outdoor area. It was nice to rediscover an old favourite.
