The smells, the noise the hidden gems- what's not to like? The only problem if you are not a frequent visitor is finding what you want. If you just want to wander, however, this place is prefect.

The Central Market is like most typical large farmers markets around the world. This one has a roof over it, so it is fine to go during rain. If you are looking for fresh fruits, meats, candy, pastries, etc this is the place to go. The food court doesn't offer much variety, and the place we chose to eat at was awful. The teens couldn't eat it. Stick with the made to order foods, or better yet, try one of the sit down restaurants in the marketplace. The highlight was seeing the large assortment of fresh kangaroo meat displayed. While I would not personally want to eat it, it was a unique thing to see. We purchased some bakery goods to take home, and they were delicious. There are a few stores to purchase gifts, but this place really is geared toward food sales.

I love going to the central market of each city we visit. It is a great way to experience the sights and smells of the local food items. The Adelaide Central Market is right up there with the best. Tons on locally grown produce, candy, nuts, cheese, meats, and seafood.
We especially enjoyed the sourdough bread and local cheese. There are also lots of food booths serving everything from snacks to full meals. Like anywhere, you need to know what you are looking for, we found some items priced right and others more than the local supermarket right next door. We go there weekly, sometimes to buy, always to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells.

We enjoyed wandering the aisles of fresh produce, meats and cheeses. There’s lots of samples to taste and plenty of good coffee shops to stop and rest at.
