“Still a happy customer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

Second stay and no complaints with this well located, characterful old place. Well maybe one small one - the bathroom of room 202 needs a towel rail. The included continental breakfast has improved since last year, everything else was much the same. Helpful, friendly staff, great location and good price.

If you are budget conscious and looking for a fab location then the ambassador is perfect. The tram stops directly outside the front door so it is very accessible to all parts of the city. I stayed in a standard room. It was freshly painted, had a comfortable bed, fridge, wardrobe and flat screen tv and they were all perfect. The air con/heating unit in the room was a bit dated but not a problem for me. En suite shower room in need of a bit of refurb but it was fine for me. The reception desk isn't always manned outside office hours although there is always someone on site and they are usually in the kiosk near the lift. This area led onto a section that had slot machines. Noticed an (informal?) quiz on 2 saturday mornings that seemed to be very popular with the clientele in this area. There was an Old style lift in the building - it was very quirky and added to the ambience. Free wi fi was brilliant throughout the hotel, though if you log out of your iPad/laptop you will prob need to get a new code from reception. This is not a problem and if you phone down will be given a new code. Complimentary breakfast consisted of fruit, yoghurt, tea/coffee, juice and bread and small cakes. Toaster provided. All self service. If you are very particular/fussy and expecting 4* or 5* then this is probably not the place for you. Otherwise it's spot on.

Room Tip: Heritage rooms are bigger. Some standard rooms on 2nd floor are beside the laundry room and could be...

Not sure what some of the bad reviews are all about on this website. We had a group of 22 adults, and enjoyed ourselves. Service at front desk and the bar was friendly and quick. Whilst the place is an older hotel, it was clean/tidy and, being in the middle of the CBD, close to everything so we didn't need taxis. Perfect for a group trip, we'd go back again for sure.

This was my second stay at the Ambassadors, to coincide with the last weekend of the Tour Downunder. In that 12 months, nothing has changed, but the prices have gone up considerably. But the pros are: great location, lovely ambience in the bar, superb meal served in the bar on a Sunday night, and air-conditioning.

Room Tip: Ask for a detailed description of what you get in the room you are thinking of booking. Don't bo...

We wanted a hotel room to stay in so we could avoid having to taxi home after a night out. This hotel ticked the box in terms of being cheap (we got a fairly good rate) and a place to sleep.

Yes, its old, so if that bothers you, I don't think you will enjoy staying here. We managed to get a Heritage Room which was small, dim and apparantly recently renovated. The room and bathroom was clean and the aircon worked well.

Seedy 24hr pokies in the front bar area. Full of old weirdos drinking at 8am in the morning.

Buffet continental breakfast was included with our stay. Selections included toast, jam, peanut butter, vegemite, cereals, juices, teas & coffees, some mini muffins and preserved fruits/yoghurts. It was rather average.

In a good central location to Rundle Mall and also bus service.

Would not choose to stay again.
