Had a amazing time in the two day trip to Fraser Island and it was all down to our tour guide Meghan! She went out of her way for us during the trip and made it a fun filled two days.

Our intial tour was cancelled due to lack of numbers and we got a refund. As we were still in the area, we decided to book for a second time. The weather forecast was not good and one of our fellow guests had previously rung the company to establish whether the expected itinerary and tour would continue and was told it would. Our guide was Wayne. We arrived at the shipwreck site and drove straight away from it, even though it transpired that this would have been the optimum time to visit. Wayne took us to the lighthouse which was one of only two parts of the tour which ran as expected. It then started to rain. Wayne did not highlight that there would be any change to the itinerary. When we approached Honeymoon Bay & Champagne Pools, Wayne appeared to turn around and not continue but did not advise us why, even though other vehicles were heading that way. We then retraced our steps to Harpers Rock which was not in the itinerary. Under duress, Wayne drove us to the Blue Lagoon but discouraged us from leaving the vehicle to look, snorkeling was not offered. Lunch was make your own but initially with a lack of plates. All the drinks on offer had been frozen, so very little was drinkable and we were glad it wasn't such a hot day. After dropping a couple off at the resort, Wayne then announced that there was nothing left to do, despite it being around 2 1/2 hours before the ferry departed back to Brisbane. He took us to a clearing and made us a cup of tea and stayed with us there to await the ferry. When we raised our grievencies with him, we were told that the company just wanted our money and that he was simply employed by them. He tried also to charge us for the park fees, even though we had paid them upfront, luckily we were able to access our payment proof. At no point did Wayne explain that we would be unable to sand board, when questioned he stated that we would have been able to visit the wrecks when we arrived, however the tides later made it unsafe. We were never given this option. We felt that we had spent a fortune on a trip which should never have gone ahead with the prevailing weather conditions. We complained to the company on our return; however, Rob Fergus stated that the sightseeing tour did not include sandboarding or snorkling but that Wayne had been to Honeymoon Bay and North Point, clearly not on the same day as we went!. The website states that we should have sandboarded and have at least stopped at the shipwreck beaches Honey moon Bay or North Point, which we did not.

I'm sorry you were confused about the tour you booked. Sunrover offers a sightseeing tour (the one you chose) and a snorkel sandboard tour.

The large tides had made driving to Honeymoon Bay & North Point impossible as there was no beach to drive on! Wayne assessed the situation, deemed it as an unsafe drive (as the car would be under a foot of water) and took you to Harpers Rock as an alternative.

The weather conditions were not the best, and changes had to be made accordingly. This is why we state on our website that itineraries are subject to change due to weather and/or tidal conditions.

Really enjoyed our 2 day tour of Fraser - beautiful island and we were guided around the highlights by Jai (& Bumps), who supplied insider knowledge and more importantly great pancakes. Were taken to Lakes Wabby and McKenzie, Central Station, Wanggoolba Creek and Maheno wreck, amongst others. Definitely recommend 2 day trip at least to get the time to appreciate the island, means you can spend more time in each location to enjoy it. We had a great time.
