The hotel recently renovated to cater for the MVC and my family decided to use out points to try out the new vacation club. We booked a week stay in a 2 bedroom apartment.

The hotel is well located in Surfers Paradise. The amenities were excellent, and we made full use of the pool, kids club and dining options. Service staff were very helpful in general.

Room was very nicely appointed. The 2 bedroom is made up of a one bedroom suite and an adjoining room. Very well appointed with washer/dryer and kitchenette. Only disappointing thing was there wasn't a cooking facility/stove (except a microwave oven) unlike other MVC properties we've visited. We had to make do with cooking using the microwave. Overall, the stay was very comfortable and on par with other Marriott properties we've visited.

Do note that parking is, unfortunately, not free and no airport transfer is provided. Having a car is not required at this property as it is near bus and tram lines. There are multiple dining options nearby within 15 mins walk / 5 mins drive. The beach is also within walking distance (about 10-15 mins). Its also within a 30 min drive to major theme parks (Movie World / Wet n Wild / Sea World etc).

Special thank you to Kris Ridley. Had a great short stay at Marriott Vacation Club Surfers Paradise. Staff were very helpful in every area of the resort. Food was fantastic, Room was luxurious with a full size fridge and huge bathroom, Pool was perfect.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms it just depends on the outlook that you like ie., Hinterland, Pool or Ocean.

I have also stayed at other marriott vacation club before. Service wise, this is comparable with the others. Location wise, it is pretty good as it is near attractions such as sea world, marina mirage (which has farmer's market on Sat), etc. Facilities wise, the most interesting one that got my attention was their pool - one where you can snorkel with fish and another is heated pool. Other typical facilities such as gym, spa, cafes/restaurants can also be found within its premises. Room wise, probably due to its location, it does not have a full kitchen like (for e.g.) phuket's mai khao beach marriott. Instead, it has a kitchenette (microwave, fridge, utensils, dishwashers, plates/bowls/cups). The washing machine and dryer are also not located within the room. But, you get to enjoy complimentary laundry still which is available on 14 and 18 floor. Laundry/dishwashing detergent are provided for, which is excellent. One area which they can improve is probably pest control as I notice ants trails within the room. Do note that they did not provide airport transfer and parking is aud15/day.

Room Tip: High floors and facing sea would be nice

Our Marriott rewards points were about to expire so my wife and I decided to go to Gold Coast during the long weekend. We booked a Lagoon-view Guest Deluxe room in Marriott Vacation Club at Surfers Paradise and wow...what a fantastic experience it was. Right before your holiday starts, you would feel the Marriott hospitality that they have been known for. A big shout out to Fa, the Vacation Experience Planner, for reaching out to us weeks before the actual booking asking us about our holiday plans and booking requests. We loved the high-floor corner room we requested and the view it offered. Thanks too, to Katrina from Reception for the late checkout and to the asian lady with long hair for accommodating our early-check in request (apologies if I can't recall her name). It was great to have casual conversation with Jorge, Craig, and Daryl. Thanks to Daryl, too, for showing us around. Here's the hotel review:

Pros:
-The lagoon-view room gives you an amazing view of the lagoon next to the Marriott grounds, Surfer's Paradise beach, as well as inland Gold Coast. Since ours is a corner room, opening the door from the inside gave us the view from the other side of Gold
Coast since our door is facing a glass window.
-Room is spacious and so was the bathroom which looked elegant.
-In-room appliances include big fridge, microwave oven, dishwasher, toaster and washing machine.
-Location is good. Walking distance to the beach and Surfer's Paradise North Station where you can take the tram and go to other attractions in Gold Coast. My wife and I would rather walk though, enjoying the view.
-Wifi is for free.
-You can ask for early check-in and late checkout, depending on availability of course. Check-in time is 4PM while checkout is at 10AM.
-You have a wide selection of activities during your stay - outdoor and water sports, gym, etc.

Cons
-Nothing at all

Weather was rainy during that weekend but that didn't dampen our holiday and stay at Marriott. It was one of our trips that we really enjoyed and a big thank you to Marriott for their warm hospitality. Will definitely see you guys again next year for a 3-night stay which we signed up for.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room with a lagoon view

Had an awesome 9 days at MVC-SP. Rooms were large with great views of the ocean, service was impeccable, friendly staff, easy access to parking, proximity of location, etc. Although we had to change rooms towards the end of our stay, special shout out to Kris Ridley from the Marriott Vacation Club, who arranged it seamlessly for us. To top it off, he then helped us to customize and arrange our next week-long vacation in Bali in 2018.....a Marriott resort that has not even been opened as yet! DMM Moey
