The emerald is in a great location with lovely views of Surfers Paradise and the river. It is an older property and therefore has some issues like peeling paint in some areas but it is also priced accordingly. You can't expect 5 star for a 3 star price.

Inside it is clean and comfortable. The Manager, Wayne, is friendly, helpful and courteous and deals with any issues that may arise in an expeditious manner.

Overall we found it to be value for money.

Booked a night here. The Manager needs a holiday or needs to pursue a new career. Wayne was condescending and tired and on more than one occasion stated the bleeding obvious rudely.

You don't treat 60 year old Travellers in a rude and incorrect manner and a smile and a laugh goes a Long way in customer service.

Room was not clean especially bathrooms disgusting really and bleach and tile stain remover would go a Long way. Also plastic wine glasses? and no curtain over spa bath also see through curtains in all rooms including bedrooms...

The Emerald itself is in a very quiet location on the River with great views from the Upper rooms but it's an old and tired building and is way over priced for what you get.

I'm just so sick and tired of this type building and management style on the Gold Coast and can't see for the life of me how these type Managers can hold their jobs. I suppose they are lucky the Gold Coast is popular so they don't have to work hard at their personal style or dress code from a professional Management scale.

On a global scale The Emerald would be a 2/10. Deal with it.

Wayne is always nice to all guests at the Emerald and is never rude as you stated.
Maybe you were just having a bad day

I booked at the emerald due to it's cheap price and spa bath. On arrival we were charged a $10 early book in fee for arriving 40 minutes early. A $100 bond was also taken on arrival and would not be placed back in the account until 7 days after arrival which seems an excessive amount of time. Bathroom with spa bath was mouldy and tiles were cracked and spa was dirty. Lots of rust in the place. Washing machine didn't work. No rubbish was allowed to be left in the room or u would incur a $30 fee. Overall not worth the extra charges go somewhere better and pay the little bit extra.

So yeah our rooms were really dirty especially the floors and kind of falling apart, however they are quite modern rooms including the kitchen which was quite clean and had microwave, big fridge, toaster, kettle, stove top and even a washing machine which we found really handy. One of the bathrooms was quite clean the other was not, we just got some cleaning products from the shop and gave the place a scrub and it was all good! The staff are very friendly, the underground security parking was awesome and very secure too. The pool is heated but still to cold for us this time of year and this place has it's own private jetty to tie up your boat which we intend on making use of when we have fishing tournaments here at the Gold Coast in the future. It is a short walk to Caval Ave, all the shops and the beach. The veiws from our rooms were bloody great, being able to see both the ocean the river and the city scape. The beds and sheets were clean and comfortable and these rooms aren't just rooms they're quite big 2 bedroom 2 bathroom units for $100 a night, absolute bargain! ! ! We are giving it 3 stars based on value...and the jetty!

Stayed one night at The Emerald whilst passing through. The facilities were good and the room had beautiful views of the Gold Coast city. The room could definitely use a make over as it seems rundown and outdated but other than that, comfortable stay!
