Mantra in the Village
Reviewed 18 June 2016

We stayed at Mantra in the Village from 27 May to 1 June in a one bedroom spa apartment, the room was ok but a bit old and out dated but it was quite large the kitchen dinning room and bedroom were quit adequate everything worked and spa on deck was quite good. The facility's were ok. The pool area was good mostly in the sun, there is no room service if you stay under 7 days but we knew that so there was no problems, as you can get fresh pool towels from reception daily and that was good. We knew reception was not open a lot of the time, but that didn't bother us as we just walked next door to Mantra Heritage. The only issue we had was we wanted to change the roo we were given for a different aspect but dur to it being a weekend and it being booked out we had a few issues trying to organizing it and in the end we did not bother. There are 4 - 5 Mantra resorts in Port Douglas and we have stayed at them all most are good some have better pool area. The location is perfect all in walking distance to anything you want and in the centre of town. the only thing is that there were stains on chairs and lounge which made it look very dirty which should be addressed to keep the d4 stars.

Room Tip: Make sure you know where your room is before you book.

Mantra in the Village was perfect for us, convenient location, clean and modern, great jacuzzi tub, pool, private patio. It's a great value for the price which was surprisingly low. We will definitely stay again!

Great place to stay, neat and tidy, spacious bathroom but no storage, queen room, very comfy bed, lots of cupboard space in kitchenette, small wardrobe but adequate for a short stay. Loved the location, walked everywhere (Marina/restaurants/shops/beach) everything within reach. Would love to stay there again, just right in my opinion.

We stayed here for the long weekend for a friend's wedding. The location is great but the room we were in was dirty and rundown. There was used soap left in the shower from the previous guest and the toilet was leaking and noisy. The dress linen was covered in stains, very disappointed, we had high hopes!
With all the competition in town I would not stay here again.

We are presently staying here after not securing a booking at Mantra Heritage due to not being able to secure an access room for my mother who needs a walk in shower. Staff at Mantra Heritage moved our booking to Mantra in the Village, offering a 2 bedroom unit for the price of a one bedroom at Mantra Heritage. While I am very pleased to have the extra room ( although not neseccary) the hotel is not attended and there are no staff managing the front desk. The hotel is noisy with ongoing maintenance throughout the day which we were not told of at time of booking or the day it was due to commence - and a very noisy 'State of Origin' match party happening as we speak. The rooms are below average. Furniture and room appointments in need of an update; pool side umbrellas and furniture looking shabby and faded. Bedrooms have limited draw space and limited wardrobe space with no coat hangers provided by the resort to hang clothing . I went to Coles and purchased my own. The door from the wardrobe has also been removed - which is also strange. Kitchen needs an update, sofa and tables are marked, the fridge also froze all our food - so adjusted the temperature and threw out our groceries. Bathroom - limited draws and very basic - no plug in my bathroom to enjoy the bath . Aircon was noisy but was repaired which was good. Under ground parking a nightmare to access - very narrow entry so we decided to park on the street. Good points? The location - in the middle of town - value is ok - but communication about Maintance would be appreciated. We were tripping over torn up carpet to get back to our room while inhaling the strong odour of sealant used to glue down the new carpet. Two bedrooms are handy - access to town and restaurants good; clean, comfortable beds, cable TV, aircon is good, mould on sheets a worry , also mould on lamp shades. Would I choose to stay here again? Depends if they offer a good rate - otherwise I would look somewhere else, no resort feeling here - no view of pool from our room on second floor just the driveway and rear road view - I should have asked the right question concerning aspect when I booked - this would have influenced my booking decision - so it's my fault in that regard. I get the feeling that a number of the units are leased long term. Nice booking staff, reasonably responsive, people generally good to deal with. Usual Port Douglas. It's a 2.5 star rating.
