We were told by locals that the heat and humidity were unseasonably high for Cairns in September - so we felt blessed that we had our own bit of luxury on the hill to retreat to. Apart from a full day trip to Cape Tribulation/Daintree, we found we just wanted to get back to the comfort of Granadilla in early afternoon each day. Not only was it much cooler on the hillside, but the peaceful surrounds, the outside deck and the pool beckoned us back. Then there was the air conditioning, the two spas (one indoors, one outside adjoining the pool), and the spacious house to just unwind. It was even nice to feel the cool floor tiles under your feet after the morning's outing. We found we spent much of our time outside - pool, views, butterflies, birds, lovely tropical garden, no flies or midges, etc. But inside, the kitchen was well equipped - enormous two-door fridge/freezer, all appliances (including a fancy 4-slice toaster), expansive range of utensils, crockery, cutlery, etc. The loungeroom was relaxing in the evening - large wall-mounted TV (with satellite channels), comfortable new settees, and an electronically-operated easy chair. Each bedroom had a super view over the city (the main bedroom having another large TV), were sparkling and attractive, and with doors to the outside verandah. As the varied bird calls signalled another tropical morning, we felt no need to rush out and do something in the region; it was so comfortable at Granadilla that we almost had to force ourselves to venture out. But we knew we had to explore. Where to today - perhaps Palm Cove, or the Cairns Botanical Gardens, or up to Kuranda in the foothills?

We spent 9 days in Granadilla Villa - 2 adults and 2 girls (8 and 11). The house is wonderfully located, in a very relaxed environment, but also near a very convenient shopping center. Most of the days we did not want to leave, since it was enough sitting in the veranda, surrounded by tropical trees, enjoying the fantastic weather while the children enjoyed the swimming pool and the gardens. Ivan was very helpful making reservations, contacting the car rental and advising us about the places to go and about the most convenient dates regarding weather. We went junglesurfing in the Daintree - besides the typical attractions (coral reef, botanic gardens, Kuranda). The house is well equiped, with plenty of space and with everything you may need. There is a very complete collection of videos that we could not watch in the beginning, but Ivan provided us with a new video after some days. Few things missing: some lights that did not work and small cups for expresso's! For us, mediterraneans it is a must. In summary, this house surpassed our expectations.

Found the accommodation to be of very good standard, pool was cleaned when we were not home which allowed our stay to be more private. Easy to get to and from the centre of Cairns. Would return for another holiday and highly recommend to anyone if they are planning a holiday to Cairns and want quite, pleasent surrounds.

Hi, having read all the reviews we were really looking forward to our stay in the villa. However, it was not quite up to our expectations. While the villa itself is well laid out and the pool and the view beautiful there were some aspects which were not all that great. The main lounge was very dreary with lots of old sofas and chairs covered in mismatched throws. The TV was great but the bookshelf full of videos was pointless as there is no video player just a DVD player (and no DVDs). The kitchen was well equipped but could do with some new plates and mugs as most of the ones supplied were chipped.
The bathrooms and bedrooms were nice but the lack of linen and towels was a bit of an issue. While there is a huge laundry room, and I have no problem washing/drying items I did find having to strip the beds, wash, dry, iron and remake them all in one day a bit irritating. As we stayed for three weeks I had to do this a number of times. An extra set of linen would have solved this problem.
The outside furniture has seen better days, especially the sun loungers and chairs. The barbeque was not very good and after a couple of attempts we did not use it. However, overall the villa is nice, the location is good and Ivan was very helpful in organising tours for us.
