Thoroughly enjoyed the train up to Kuranda, the scenery was breathtaking. Love the old trains. Fascinating history about how the track, tunnels and bridges were built!

Thank you so much, lovely to have you on board! We wish you a safe journey onwards.
Fantastic views, and an 'up close and personal' perspective on the rainforest and the difficulties of building the track.
We caught the train up to Kuranda, and the Skyway down. A great combination.
We spent minimal time in Kuranda - as we'd driven up the day before, and were 'full-up' with the tourist markets etc.
What a wonderfully positive review! We are so glad you enjoyed your time in the rainforest and look forward to hosting you again another day.
We caught the sky rail up which was amazing... stayed 3 1/2 hours in Kuranda ... was too long, recommend 2 hours tops if you have children. Then we were happy to get on the train and head back as we were all tired! There were some pretty sights from the train but it was a train ride... the Skyrail on the way up was def the highlight!!! Next time I’d get the Skyrail back too
Thanks for your review, it is a nice old ride. It may take its time, but that is just so you can enjoy the scenery :)
We went up on the Skyway and down on the train. A real feat of engineering with some great views. You need to book a ticket to go between the freshwater station and the Skyway if you left your car there. We had to talk our way into a coach.
Thank you for the tip!
If you have the time and the money to do this I highly recommend it. Take the train one way and the skyrail the other and make a full day of hanging out in Kuranda. Both the train and skyrail offer amazing views and is a good time.
Fantastic to have you on board with us. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and safe onward travels to you.
I have been on a number of scenic trains and maybe that’s why I was not all that impressed with the train. There were very few sights during the ride, mostly below viewing level or so covered by the rainforest to see much except the vegetation along the tracks.
We took the train up and the Skyrail back and the Skyrail was by far more scenic from a high above the canopy. I would take the Skyrail both ways if going again.
We'd be lying if we said we weren't a little disappointed that your journey didn't live up to expectation. The train, made up of carriages 100-years old, is in fact a vintage experience - the entertainment is in large part made up of travelling in vintage refurbished carriages, which are indicative of the time, of enjoying the change of pace and learning the history of the railway in the on board commentary and enjoying the scenery as you wind through the hand-made tunnels.
